He will call out Barker vs Macklin, but I highly doubt the winner would look to face him. The winner will be looking to move onto World level, not take another tough Euro level fight.
It's not quite as simple as that. Lee was on the right track to winning the Euro title which would have got him higher up the rankings but we all know what happened there.
If Macklin wins yes, but hennesey wont be able to get Barker a world title fight straight away. He will have to fight his EBU mandatory (vacant title winner has to fight 2 mandos) and theres 4 fighters ahead of Lee in the q. If Lee wants that fight he needs to make an offer to fight one off Mahir Oral, Domenico Spada, Gennadi Golovkin, Gregorz Proska.
fair enough, that wasn't the ideal situation but Lee could have been in a better position for a title or being mandatory for Barker instead of Gevor, Pirog (who turned the fight down for world titles) and then Macklin. If Lee had beaten a few top 5 european fighters i could understand him moaning about not getting fights, but he hasnt. Barker got lucky everyone knows that, but Lee could of made his own luck by now.
Well Golovkin is going for WBA interim title I think Paddy said Proska's people dont want the fight (with Lee). Not 100% about Oral and Spada, but I'm sure I've heard they've been trying to get them too. Hopefully they can get one of them
Didn't someone from the Proska camp say they never got offered the fight or something. Honestly guys like Oral and Spada, it doesn't cost that much to get them in the ring, £10,000 would get them to Ireland.
Is the guy Will who posts on here? I think he was saying Proska would defo take it, but Paddy thinks the lads in charge have other plans for him. Probably would be a bit more than that, Thiam had nothing to offer and he was getting 10k I think. But still hope they get one of them, I'd be buying my ticket straight away.
if they paid him 10k in lira thats to high. Sakio Bika and Jean Paul Mendy are getting less then £10,000 each for there IBF eliminator this weekend.
Dublin is a fair drive from Limerick! It makes sense to gain a following in his hometown before fighting in Dublin. It was easier for Dunne as he's from Dublin. The uni at Limerick is fine for the type of fights he's had there. Decent crowd money, decent TV money..just enough for the Calibre of fights he's been having there. As for him calling out the Macklin / Barker winner, Lee has always said that he wants to make it in the states. Until the winner of that fight lands a world title it's not really that significant in the US. Although he did say after his last fight that he wanted to fight Barker for the European.
Really? ****, ya, maybe I'm way off. I thought thats what I saw in the article about him losing his purse. I'm never too sure what boxers would be getting paid. EDIT: No well, thats what it said in the article alright, 10,000 yos http://boxing-ireland.com/20100720_mamadou_thiam_purse_39.html
This fight would end in a round with Lee overwhelmed by Paul williams punches he'd take way to much punishment and the ref would jump in to save him from further brutality his trainer emanuel steward collapsed ringside,
Fair enough but Limerick only holds 2,500. If he fights for a world title in ireland it will be in dublin, 02 right so he needs to build a name there to. my point is if he went to dublin, he could pull in 5000 and afford a better opponent. 5k x 40euro is 200,000, add the tv money, sponsership, they will be able to afford a decent guy and boost him in the rankings. fair enough he wants to make it in the US. I respect any fighter that goes the US route as its tougher. But if he is going there he needs to stay there. Jumping between the two jsut limits your fan base there.
