Paul Williams vs. Delvin Rodriguez

Margo has actually fought almost 4 times in the last 12 months. Williams in July '07 then Johnson, Cintron and finally Cotto in July '08.

Regarding Rodriguez, yeah he is a D class fighter at best. Jesse Feliciano knocked Delvin out last year. The guy is not even ranked in the top 15 by the WBO so maybe it's a mistake.

As for Margo being a once or twice a year fighter, he did this when he was champion before and it appears he is doing it again

Anyway, Rodriguez is a decent fighter, offensively. Defensively, he's lacking and has a horrible chin. If it comes off, Paul more than likely will have his 3rd consecutive first round KO.

 

Doesn't Williams have his WBO Mandatory in Michael Jennings to fulfill? He would get stripped if he doesn't fight him. There's no way they can work Rodriguez into the rankings as Paul's mandatory.

 

Oh **** a semi-live body in the ring to defend against..We can't have that

 

Delvin has solid skills, good stamina but a shaky chin. PW via early KO and a questionable defense to boot.

 

Why not just put a mannequin in the center of the ring for Paul to beatup?

 

Apparently, the mandatory isn't due right away. Rodriguez had a fight scheduled for tonight in the Dominican Republic, and pulled out so he didn't jeopardize the fight with Williams. So it appears to be a go.

 

I don't think Williams has faced single mandatory since winning the belt off of Margarito last July. He should just face Jennings to get rid of the mandatory or face Clottey. Hell, make the fight with Jesus Soto Karass. That would be a good scrap at least. Paul would just overwhelm Delvin and KO him in the first round.

 

Remember Paul lost the title in February, and just regained it in June.

Don't think so because Rodriguez received a letter stating he will be fighting a final eliminator with Isaac Hlatshwayo to decide the mandatory for Clottey.
