Ahhh. Ya, we have vastly different views on how good Spence is.

    Luckily time will tell.

    Trinidad as well.

One time I saw Trinidad next to Cotto, and while Cotto is a short welter, still... the size difference blew my mind.

I love me some Paul Williams. I don't think picking Spence is outrageous, just that we haven't had to see him utilize the attributes which he would need against Williams (head movement, closing distance without being "on top," walking through/parrying shots).

Man that was a beautiful display of skills. Paul went headhunting next fight. Brutal KO.

Since Carlos outboxed him I'd have to say Spence could as well. Paul not afraid, took Rito's shots all night would've done similar. & Spence doesn't bust up easily like Carlos, so I think Errol wins.

Out of curiosity, when has Spence ever shown he has the propensity of boxing off the back foot and counterpunching, like Quintana did though?

Spence has a pretty constant routine of trying to impose himself, being the more physical fighter, and controlling center ring.

I just find the idea that not only would he switch things completely up, but that he would do so seamlessly and successfully, somewhat of a reach.

    Just watched the Quintana fight.

    * Good lord, Williams has to be one of the fighters with the best head movement, while simultaneously being one of the easiest fighters to hit. I dont quite understand it. The head movevement is there, and yet he eats punches like he gets a bonus for each one that lands flush.

    * If you compare that performance to his other fights, he was clearly, imo, lackluster and was a sub par performance. Compare his form against Quintana, to his form against Winky. I am talking his sense of urgency, the snap of his punches, ect.

    * Paul simply gets hit too much. I still favor him to outwork a Spence that wont be that hard for him to find, but honestly, after rewatching some Williams fights real quick, I cant count Spence out. Stylistically, I think it favors Williams, but hes simply too hittable.

I wonder if Williams would beat a prime Winky. He had to the style for it.

The 1980s had quite a few welterweight titleholders that were 6ft and over.

    Thomas Hearns
    Milton McCrory
    Mark Breland
    Maurice Blocker.

I know that Porter is a lot different from Paul but I'd be better suited to say once I see how Spence deals with his work rate him attempting to physically impose himself

Williams is an extremely bad matchup for Spence. A bigger, stronger, far more active guy with an extremely durable chin (it only failed once). Sergio and Quintana, (and Lara who really won) beat him by out maneuvering him and were often on the backfoot. Quintana in the rematch was destroyed in 2 minutes and Sergio in the rematch simply landed one of the most perfect, quick "gotcha" shots I've ever seen. That's not Spence's style. Spence who've I've become very high on in the last couple years would get pummeled late, maybe even stopped.

This is actually a great mythical matchup.

Right now i have to go with The Punisher. Spence relies on being big and physical....but he's not bigger or more physical than Tall Paul.
