Exactly. Williams has earned a soft touch or two and after being ko'ed like he was last time a soft touch would be a smart move. The problem is HBO putting this on as a main event. I guess they could put on a strong undercard or Williams-Ishida could save the day and be a fantastic fight. But, as of right now, this is a poor fight for an HBO main event and they should have higher standards or Showtime will just keep looking better and better.

I disagree. As long it is not PPV broadcast of it better than no broadcast at all.

Wouldn't it be great if Ishida shattered Williams Glass Jaw also? It would be hilarious. I don't think Williams is going to be able to come back from that brutal KO I think the old adage of once they crack they don't come back applies here. Williams is a brutal KO waiting to happen. :deal

If this was the undercard fight on an HBO double header I would have no problem with it. This is simply not worthy to headline an HBO card.

He was picked as the cannon fodder for Kirkland because he still had a good looking record but was supposed to be on the wane. Unless Williams is psychology ruined from getting knocked out, he should win this one easy. Unless they made it part of a card with several co-features I can't imagine too many people going to see it.

Poopy HBO fight; particularly if it's being positioned as a main event.

And as others have pointed out, I imagine that Williams will be getting a pretty handsome payday, there'll probably be **** all on the undercard.

It just goes to show that certain fighters with certain promotional outfits get preferential treatment from HBO. Sergio Martinez is essentially forced to fight Sergiy Dzinziruk (a tough, boring, unknown eastern European fighter). While Paul Williams is allowed to pick and choose his opponent and still boxing fans will look the other way and try to justify it, which is the worst of it all.

HBO has been butting on some good shows lately. So what if its a main event ? As long as its free... why not watch it :huh
Arreola said he would be back in two months. I hope HBO will but him on the card. Probably wont be with anyone too good but it should still be fun to watch.

Good for Ishida. He deserves big fights. I hope people underestimate him like what they did to Kirkland.

    Interesting.

If you laid them out fingertips-to-toes, they could probably stretch from one corner of the ring to the other. :yep

This is Boxing After Dark undercard quality at best.

Amazing how Paul Williams' life has changed after that 2nd round KO. Im not even convinced that Martinez would beat Williams in a rematch, KO's like that can happen to anyone. In this day and age though somebdy is automatically regarded as a 'shot fighter' the minute he loses a big fight. Im not even a Paul Williams fan but i bet he comes back from this with a vengeance and everyone will be licking his nuts again...
