I think Kelly would wear him down after a competitive start. Could even see him down on the cards due to Williams' speed of hand and improving movement. In the end, I see Kelly being too big, powerful, and strong.
u guys are reppin pavlik that hard. man i will take p willy all day everyday no doubt about it.. and im pretty sure that p will fought at 168 when he fought winky but i could be wrong.
Well some would say that it was 10 pounds over his ideal fighting weight but I believe that Paul Williams' workrate would just smother Pavlik, that and his movement and keeping him on the outside at all times would carry him to a UD
Hopkins is one of if not the smartest fighter today. He can make anyone slow down and fight his fight. Williams fights hard with punches every round. Hops makes you miss and gives you crazy angles.
If Williams gets in early and doesnt let Pavlik tee off on him he could finish the fight early. Taylor almost did it, PW's got more finishing instinct than Taylor. Although i could be wrong and Pavlik on fightnight could come to the ring weighing 10 - 15lbs more than Williams and bomb him outta there!
Paul needs 2 more fights at 154, and a couple more at 160 before he fights KP. Right now it would be a very exciting 5 round fight, and it would end very badly for PWilliy. He needs time to become a real middleweight.
Pavik can't out box PTP and so the only way I see him winning is via ko. PTP has a spectacular chin at 47 and also showed he can take a middleweights punches in his fight against Winky. Obviously PTP hasn't tasted the type of power that Pav possesses in his career so it remains to be seen how he would handle the increased power. If I had to make a pick today then I would favor PTP who I think would use movement and superior quickness and speed to negate Pav's power advantage.
Since you claim "Pavlik can't outbox" PW, please make me a list of all the fighters who scored a clear UD over Jermain Taylor. I'll help you get started. You can eliminate all time great Bernard Hopkins, he failed, and you can eliminate future hall of fame inductee Winky Wright, he failed too. The list starts AND stops with Pavlik. Pavlik would stop Williams, but he would also be ahead on the cards, of that I am certain. If PW gives himself some time to grow into 160 properly, and learns to keep his hands up, I'd take another look.
PTP fights nothing like JT and so your comparison, though noteworthy from a general standpoint, is irrelevant. BTW, Hopkins, who lost to JT twice, boxed circles around Pav using angles and movement. I think it more plausable that PTP invokes this style of fighting against Pav than it would be of him fighting similar to how JT fought Pav.
Point taken, but Paul has some career long bad habits that would cost him big time. If you don't keep your hands up against Pav, he will shut you down. William's isn't that hard to hit, and as far as pure boxing skills, he got beat by Quintana, so we're not talking Willie Pep here. It is common for people to think of KP as just a slugger because of his KO history. However, he does not have extraordinary one-punch power. KP has the KO ratio he does because the boy can box. I'm not going to get into a big pissin' match about the Hopkins fight. Anyone who is not a complete buffoon and pure hater, knows what happened, and they know the source that reported the facts was Thomas Hausser.
Yup, P-Will is about 6'3 AND so is Pavlik. Righty vs. Lefty, both high out put no **** around fighters. I think this fight would be GREAT and I also believe the fans (esp. in the US) would love this fight and get hyped for it. 7-8 round war, with Pavlik retaining his titles.:hey:good
