Cintron has never stopped anyone of note. Williams has a good chin and will overwhelm Cintron in about 11 rounds IMO. Good fight though, hopefully Williams-Martinez II next :deal

No it's worse than that - Pacquiao also has a WBC diamond belt.

Sky always seem to pick the wrong ones. They showcase Berto and Williams in confidence builders and ignore Pavlik/Martinez.

I don't really find this match up THAT intriguing to be honest. Not many interesting intangibles here. Cintron is a dumb fighter who doesn't know his identity and therefore always seems to fight the wrong fight (Angulo fight being an exception) and rarely sticks to a gameplan, not a good look against a 6 foot southpaw who throws 100 punches a round.

I think Cintron can upset the odds here. He seems rejuvenated and has skill which I think he will show against Williams landed the more accurate and powerful shots. Cintron UD

This fight worrys me slightly fellas, i'm definitely not as confident as i was. I'm really confused with Paul right now, i would be extremely confident with the old Williams that could fight backwards, create distance and fight from across the street, so why is he voluntarily giving up his height? The Paul that i fell in love with could fight different ways and was more smarter, i haven't seen THAT Paul Williams in a while, plus he's starting to develope scar tissue and therefore is suspect to cuts.

He's dealing with Cintron who still has that big punch and if he goes in there with no gameplan trying to walk him down he could be dominating the fight but then suddenly walk into something. He's just fighting dumb, if you continue to follow fighters around in these higher weights then eventually its gonna be detrimental. Paul has the skill to put on masterpiece performances, taking less punishment, he doesn't have to put his brain and chin at risk like he's been doing. I wish he would get a new trainer or at least an advisor to teach him little nuances like feints and rolling with punches, I'm not a fan of his current trainer (Peterson i think his name is) he doesn't know whats right for that boy. Can you imagine someone like Manny Steward with Willaims? someone with the same dimensions as Tommy Hearns, Okay not as devastating but with more stamina then the Hitman.

I think this change goes back to that Margarito fight, firstly that fight made him believe in his chin too much and more importantly i think after beating Margarito then not being able to get big fights, he seems to be on a mission to walk people down and blow them away. The sad thing is his people are letting him fight this way to draw crowds and make him a draw, but its not working. For me he's been horribily mis-managed, why the heck did they take him out of a red hot welterweight division when he could still make the weight? if no one will fight you then you do what Hopkins did at middleweight and rack up defences, straps and victories, eliminating their opponents and leaving them nowhere to go. I think Paul Williams was manuvered away from Floyd Mayweather by Al haymon because there's a conflict of interest there, Its sad the way they treated this kid because they cost him a lot of money and legacy.

I wouldn't be shocked to be honest, Like i said i don't like this version of Willaims. The way he's been fighting anything could happen. He really needs to be careful here especially early when Cintron throws those bombs Willaims needs to be on his P's and Q's in this fight because the way he's been stooping down with that mindset, Cintron could dit down on something. But Willaims should have enough for a late stoppage or a wide UD.

All the credit to Paul Williams for fighting guys who are tough contenders. Fighters like Quintana and Cintron are the sort of fights that keep the fan interested while bigger fights are trying to be made.

Martinez at 160! Pavlik! Let's see them!

Oh Paul is old school, huge props for what he's doing, but i just don't like the way he's been managed and this 'no one will fight me so i'm gonna walk every opponent down' mentality. I wonna see the Paul that could pitch from the mound and not just fight in the booth.

If it wasn't for Paul's flaws i would be more confident, anyway fighting an H1N1 infested Angulo is the equivalent to fighting Jermaine Taylor, false hope! thats why Paul will probabily take a revived Kermit the f* out.

Its going to be a great fight.

    Cintrons lost to Margorito twice. If you look at those fights, paticuarly the 2nd, Margorito constantly went to the body of the skinny fighter to wear him down. He got on the inside and ripped away with thise huge hooks. However we have to consider 3 things about these fights;

    1) Was Margorito wearing the dodgy plaster in his gloves.
    2) It must have been tough for Cintron to make Welterweight
    3) Cintron has now moved trainers. He is working with the superb Ronnie Shields.

Shields has completley changed Cintrons style. His used to be a KO artist. He is now a defensive minded fighter who counter punches. He uses his world class jab and foot speed to keep the distance between him and his opponents. He shoots that jab out extremly quick and it can hurt a fighter. He has improves his defence 100%. His head movement is great. Using his hab and head movement, he now stays on the outside well out of the punching range of his opponent.

His fight agaisnt Alfredo Angulo, undefeated at the time and since, was a masterclass from fighter and trainer. A fantastic Boxing clinic of how any tall boxer should fight. Angulo who is a busy fighter like Williams, never got close to Cintron to cause problems. Due to Cintrons head movement, he could not get him there, and due to Cintron using his jab, he was unable to have much success to the body. When he did get to the body, Cintron would just lean in with his head and clinch. When Angulo got Cintron into a corner, he would simply use his strentgh and move Angulo away and back into the centre of the ring. This is a great defensive move he has learn from Shields. Its rare to see a boxer fully change there style with as much sucess as Cintron has. You can put that down to the work of Shields, one of the great trainers.

Williams will not be able to get inside and have the sucess Margorito had. Williams is not a huge puncher. He is a volume puncher, at this will play into the hands of Cintrons style. Cintron is the bigger puncher, he has 1 punch KO power. His fights have been going the distance recently due to his new style, but he can still knock a Williams out with either hand.

Willams as I have said is an hugley active agressive fighter. He throws over 100 punches a round on a regular basis, for 12 rounds if he needs to. He is a southpaw and always has his feet set to throw. For a big man he has great foot movement, like Cintron. The way to beat a counter puncher like Cintron is to just keep throwing hard accurate punches, keep moving forward with smart effective pressure. Williams has doen this in every fight. He always fights the same way. The problem for counter punchers like Cintron, and previous Williams opponent Winky Wright is that you cannot counter the number of punches Williams is throwing. Cintron will spend to much time avoiding and blocking punches, and not being able to counter.

Williams is taller than Cintron, and he fights as a tall man. This is a huge advantage in a fight between two big men, as Cintron will have never has a fight with a taller man before. With his 82 inch reach he can get to Cintron from anywhere in the ring. Martinez was able to have sucess against Williams as he used lateral movement to keep him off balance. He did the same agaisnt Pavlik. Cintron does not have great lateral movement and does not have a speed advantage in hand and foot that Martinez had over Williams.

Williams will come out being agresive, in Cintrons face throwing allot of punches, but missing allot. He will win some early rounds on work rate alone. He is the more explosive fighter so his good work will look better to the judges than Cintrons. At some point Cintron is going to hit and hurt Williams and we will see Williams back off and start being more cautious when coming inside to avoid Cintrons power, especially the big right hand. If Williams is going to win this fight he needs to get to the body, if Cintron is to win he needs to keep moving around the ring and have success countering with the ring hand.

I get a feeling there will be a controversial split decision, maybe even a draw.

Fighting the way he has is what warms me to him. I want him to fight like that all the time except in the fights against sharp boxers like Quintana and Martinez. He makes it harder than it has to be.

Recently i would agree Rob but before the first Marg fight Cintron was doing a hell of a lot of the things you mentioned. He used to be a very good boxer puncher with a big punch. Then he turned into a fighter looking to land a bomb and go home. Shields has done great getting Cintron to do what he used to do but to put that down to shields alone is a bit quick. The people training Cintron before Steward were on to something great but Cintron lost his way.

Your analysis of both the Angulo fight is spot on a lot of people go on about Angulo looking sick or what but Cintron fought a very good fight.

I have a feeling big Paul is going to revert back to trying to box on the outside something he used to do quiet well once he feels Cintron's power. I'm hoping for a Cintron mid round TKO but i can see Williams adapting well and making Cintron get ragged and desperate on his way to a clear UD

I still swear blind Angulo could beat Cintron in a rematch...I really do think he would. Something was weird about him.

I'm sure PW will win tomorrow, he just as too much ammunition...for anyone. Late stoppage or decision.
