Margarito vs. Williams 2 would be an exciting fight. In particular because neither fighter is the same guy as they were when they first fought.

Margo beat Cotto by specializing in what he does best. Taking a punch and non-stop aggression. Should he face Williams again he'd put forth an even more aggressive fight then he did the first time. But Williams is different now too. Williams had fallen into a rut of relying on his skills and physical advantages to coast to victory. He didn't seem to put the extra effort in to try to hurt or take his opponent out. His loss to Quintas ended that. Williams came out in the rematch with a whole new attitude and crushed Quintas in a single round.

We won't see the same fight. We'll see the new, improved, and more aggressive versions of both fighters going at it. It's a fight I'd like to see.

    Thank you.

I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out how capfunds reconciles his conviction that Floyd is retired beyond a doubt with his equal certainty that there is no other fight worth Margarito being involved in. Damn, I guess Margarito should call a press conference in Tijuana, hand out Rollies, and sob that there's nothing left for him to prove.

Newsflash. The welterweight division is ticking along just fine without Floyd.

again floyd boys talking out of their collective asses. there was no rematch clause. because it was not a top rank promotion. if you tahe floyds balls out from in front of your eyes long enough you would know that the fight was promoted by goosen who won the purse bid. top rank had nothing to do with the promotion of that fight.

    Thanks Dave for clarifying that.
For the rest of you who have been so confidently speaking of this or that guy not exercising his rematch clause, please do your research before you make claims.

Not the promotion but in ANY mandatory defense, rematch clauses are not permitted.

I really don't get some of your guys' reasoning.

The same way Ricky Hatton got credibility got at welterweight by defeating who? Luis Collazo in a controversal win, which many thought Collazo won.
If defeating the man (Cotto), in a very blunt, violent, and conclusive way I , who many believed was the guy to beat Floyd Mayweather, and who many thought was the Man in the welterweight division isn't earning enough credibility to call out Floyd, then I don't don't know what else is. He knocked out the guy who Floyd was avoiding when he retired, who Floyd even said was a very good fighter and had a bright career ahead of him... so you are making an excuse for Floyd that Margarito doesn't have enough credibility in the welterweight division to call out Floyd? Some of you Floyd fans are delusional. :patsch

Its a lost ****ing cause don't waste your breath trying to argue with some of the people here because they got their nostrils really far up Mayweather's anus. There is no such thing as reasoning with people who are in this disastrous state of extreme worship

Those who want to see who is really #1 at ww. Margo did beat Cotto who was #1 but Paul Williams is the only guy in recent memory to beat him at 147. So unless Margo faces him again, Williams can claim that he has beaten the current #1 at ww. This will put to rest who is THE BEST.

Yep. These 2 need to face off. Apparently Williams wants it again. And Margo says he fears no one, so this is a fight that will happen.

Their will probably fight next year after Margarito retires the old fighters that should of retired along time ago. We all know who they are.
