I see Williams winning this one. Cotto doesn't do well with pressure. I still think he's a shot fighter.

Unfortunately unless the stars align, PW will probably never get a bigger fight than last night.

Williams has no defense, got exposed by Quintana and was going to be KO by Cintron. Cotto would smash Williams all night.

I think Williams would win a decision. Cotto would use the Quintana blueprint but Williams does much better against orthodox fighters, Cotto would do well in the early rounds then Williams would slowly catch up to him and overwhelm him with his workrate. I think he does enough to get the D.

    Cotto via KO

He is more accurate and powerful than Ishida and like it or not, he did sting Paul

Willimas stops him late, Cotto has fought far lesser opposition at 154, Williams stops him and gives him a Margarito 1 beating.

Who were the great Williams opponents at 154 again? :huh

    In the last six years:

    Verno Phillips
    Cintron
    Lara
    Ishida

That's it. Literally everything else has technically been at middleweight, welterweight, or a catchweight above 154.

Compare to Cotto since moving up:

    Foreman
    Mayorga
    Margarito II

Granted, Lara is a better individual opponent than any of those three (and remember, Williams very clearly lost to Lara and got a gift) - but are Williams' four above really that much better than these three, altogether?

Cotto is 3-0 against decent/fair world level light middleweights, and you can count on one hand how many rounds he's lost to that trio.

Williams can be argued unofficially 2-2 against world level, with the deserved wins (Phillips and Ishida) coming against much lower-tier light middleweights who are probably only barely world level.

So, how is PW's 154lb resume far greater?

margarito beat the crap out of cotto and ruined his career, williams beat margarito clearly. williams beat martinez, cotto is a such an overrated fraud, he lost to clottey, margarito, pacquiao and has since then been fighting shot fighters at 154. williams by devastating stoppage.

That win over Lara on paper makes his resume much better than Cotto's at this weight.

So much of what you've said is factually wrong.

Cotto's career ruined? He's the #1 jmw, so I'd say his career is in fine shape....better than that of his "ruiner".

Williams clearly beat Margarito? Sure, CLOSE but clear.

Beat Martinez? Nah. Got lucky with an official verdict over him...and subsequently got KTFO by him.

    Cotto lost to Clottey? :rofl

Fighting shot fighters at 154? Like Yuri Foreman, who was an undefeated 29 year old world titlist at the time?

Williams by stoppage? Dream on. Cotto gets stopped by guys who punch like MEN.
