I was just thinking about this one, and think it's going to be more competitve than many think.

Simple question who do you think wins?

I say Ishida gives Williams hell, but Williams manages to get another close decision in his favor.

    Williams MD12 Ishida

    Thoughts?

    Williams easily.

Ishida is a journeyman and Team Williams are being smart, this guy has positive press from the Kirkland KO, a little name value, but he's not a threat to Paul.

I want to think Williams wins easily, but the Paul I want to say that about doesn't seem to be around any more.

Maybe I'm still giving Ishida too much praise from his Kirkland bout (which proved more about Kirkland than Ishida imo) still, but being that Williams is there to hit, I feel that alone will cause the fight to be more competitive than it should be.

Either way I think it's a pretty safe bet on Williams to win.

A big factor will be that Ishida is no longer an unknown threat, if Williams has a brain cell in his head he'll of watched the Kirkland fight multiple times, the benefit of knowing what you're up against should make this fairly easy for someone who should still be a far higher quality of fighter. Trouble is I have no idea who Williams should fight after this matchup, it'd be intresting to see him fight Jermain Taylor.

I haven't thought about this one. Ishida is listed as the same height but 10 inch reach disadvantage. Didn't get to see much of him but he did appear more disciplined than Paul. If he doesn't lose his cool under the work rate it could be interesting I guess.

If his jab is what Kirkland led us to believe? If he can work that jab and a 1-2 and the judges don't rob him? He has a good chance to win it. With a fighter like Williams we have to favor Ishida. Williams is just too easy to hit and seems incapable of adjust-ing(is a blocked word?). If Ishida sits on his jab for the first 3 rounds, wears Williams down a bit, and Boxes before moving in for the kill? Williams will be toast.

On another note, given his recent showing contrasted by his career record, I have to think that Ishida may be a bit flakey mentally. Almost in mania if he is doing well, but the exact opposite in adversity. My guess is that he can be mentally broken if a guy can get through the first few rounds and/or scare him. So Williams mos def has a high likely hood of crushing him if he doesn't have a great game plan with great conditioning.

Williams wide UD, stoppage wouldn't surprise me either.

If Williams wins impressively I wouldn't mind a Martinez Trilogy being looked at honestly. If that isn't a option (which I doubt it will be) I would like to see Williams against Pirog.

On the subject of JT, I would like JT to fight a higher ranked opponent, and do well, before I would want to see him against a Williams with a win streak.

I don't think they will take Williams back to 160 so don't expect the trilogy.

I am going to go out on a limb here. Ishida is not only going to win he is going to school Williams.

Williams' camp thought they had a good "victim" because Ishida doesn'thave a ton of stoppages. They are wrong. People are seriously underestimating Ishida's speed and slickness. Especially his FOOT speed and head movement. Williams' come forward no defense wild swinging style is going to allow Ishida to pepper him with his jab, pick spots, and hop away to do it all over again.

This is seriously a horrible matchup for Williams. Williams will look wild and amateurish.

Ishida may not stop him, but he will school him and touch him ALL DAY. Hopefully the judges don't rob him.

    Williams middle late stoppage.

Ishida is decent though. I honestly was impressed when Kirkland agreed to fight Ishida as his third opponent in as many months.
