His chin was shockingly bad. There aren't many elite fighters who had a worse chin, I don't think. He ranks below a Floyd Patterson or Thomas Hearns, easily. Anyway, I'd pick Williams to knock him out within 5 or a Norris decision.
His chin was very bad, yes, but again, it's not like he was gone whenever he was hit cleanly. He was stopped by Julian Jackson, who was monster of a puncher, and Simon Brown, who was also an excellent puncher and whom Norris easily outboxed in the rematch. Other than that, he was stopepd past his prime. Like I said, Norris getting stopped is always a possibility, but at his best and focused, the more likely scenario IMO is him outboxing Williams and taking a clear UD.
Norris held at least one title at 154 for nearly a decade..His chin was his weak point but getting knocked out by the best version of Jackson you will probably see and dropping the ball once against a hard hitting brawler like Brown isnt that bad. It held up for a long time against a fairly decent level of opposition. Williams has showed decent power twice recently blowing out Quitana inside 1, which can happen sometimes if you are caught cold and stopping grandpa Verno..other then that his power has looked just average. His numbers lie IMO..despite his decent KO percentage that has a lot more to do with his level of opposition then anything. Norris got knocked out in his prime by two above average punchers...one the consensus p4p puncher of alltime...Dont see what Williams has that will trouble him..Paul just isnt that good defensively and I think he gets proper outpointed by Norris.
Prime for prime, I'd take Norris, but I could see the fight going either way. I think Norris had enough movement that Williams wouldn't be able to tee up on him.
yeah he had chin problems but VICIOUS power. You could call Norris a great MW arguably, and you're comparing him against a guy who's only had one fight at MW against a no-hoper. A little premature if you ask me...
