    This will be like the Hopkins/Pavlik fight. The old vet will give the brash, inexperienced hype job a boxing lesson. Phillips UD.

    So you're making a prediction on a fight that you admit you know absolutely nothing about one of fighters?:-( I'm guessing you probably know nothing about either of them. All you're apparently aware of is the hype.

    Phillips is going from the ultra conservative style of Spinks in his last bout and barely getting by to the ultra busy PTP who also possesses some serious power. I'm inclined to believe that PTP's youth and work rate will generate a late stoppage.

    therez a reason y i hardly know anything. One guy got all the hype becuz of the ppl he beat and the way he did it. the other isnt on anyones radar.

    Verno Phillips has been a pro since 1988 and has never been stopped. To my eyes, PW hasn't displayed any real KO power. His stoppages have come against much smaller bums, has-beens, or never-was cans. CQ is a nifty boxer but has no chin. Verno has a chin. PW overcommits with his combos and leaves himself open to counters, something I think Verno will take advantage of, especially with team Williams fixated on a KO which will only make him overcommit even more.

    I do. And its about time. Aside from Margarito, PW hasn't really hasn't fought anyone of note. Don't get me wrong. Verno Phillips ain't no Bernard Hopkins. But he's as hard and experienced of a journeyman/belt holder that you're going to find. If Williams gets by him, than it will do a lot to legitimize him in my eyes. But the idea that he's going to just roll over him and KO him is ridiculous to me.

    Williams should win. But if Verno can get to him early and make Williams less willing to throw like he normally does, Williams still wins, just in a tougher then expected bout.
