When has he ever priced himself out? Anyway, he should stay at 147. If he keeps knocking people out, some of these guys will have to fight him.

You forgot one. Antonio Margarito. :nono

But just like all the other Margo fans, you want desperatley to see Williams fight anyone else BUT Margarito.

He's already planning to fight Verno Phillips for the IBF title at 154, that's the last update I could find on him, could change of course.

Yeah, looks like that one is in plan, either a title defense at 147 against a good enough opponent or title shot at 154.

*Edit: It's the IBF title that Phillips has, unless they mean Forrest.

    --------

Goossen said Williams could defend his welterweight title on Nov. 29 on an HBO "Boxing After Dark" show. Or Goossen said Williams could go after a 154-pound title, possibly WBC title held by Verno Phillips.

Margarito rematch. However - if Margarito is effectively freezing Williams out by planning to fight his mandatory and then rematch Cotto - then Williams has few other options at welterweight. He should be careful about moving too far up the scale. When he lands a big name fight at welterweight and has to boil back down - he might do more harm than good to his body (see RJJ, Antonio Tarver, Chris Byrd).

Hang around and force a unification fight with Margarito and Berto at 147 . . . if succesful . . . go up to 154 and fight Santos and the other title holders.

    That's ensuring he's gonna be a p4p fighter.

That's not what Pavlik said. In a recent interview, he said he chose Hopkins over Williams because Williams is not a big name and is a Welter.

They passed on an immediate rematch with Margo to unify with Cintron. Cintron pulled out and Margo was offered a shot to replace him. By that time, Top Rank was looking toward a Cotto/Margo fight and Williams had to settle on Quintana. There was no pricing out because there was no offers.

He's doing what he has to do to get the biggest fight out there for him at Welter. That should be admired, not criticised.

When did Clottey offer him a fight? Do you have a link?

Cintron was the one who chose not to reschedule. Team Williams was all for rescheduling that fight, Cintron opted not to.

Cintron pulled out, Cotto wouldn't fight him after he beat Margo, Mosley turned down a fight, so did Collazo.

He's been fighting at Welter. However, Verno Phillips is being considered for his Nov fight.

Because he hasn't been campaigning full time at MW. He took a stay busy fight there, but outside of that, he's been campaigning at Welter.

What's your point? He did beat the guy that many consider to be the best in the division. Many of the top Welters have balked at the chance to fight Williams. Clearly, they view him as a tough matchup.

You sure it was demands for more money that called off the Pavlik talks?, as far as I know Pavlik wasn't really interested in this one seeing as Hopkins agreed to fight him at Lt. Heavy and is a bigger fight as he plans to get Calzaghe after it.

Kelly was not interested. It had nothing to do with Paul outpricing himself, but people say it just because they think it lends credence to their argument that Paul doesn't really want to fight anyone.
