Agreed - I'd love to see him against Vernon Forrest at 154

When he sits down, he hits hard enough. His 24 KO's weren't by accident.

And many fighters pull the "draining".....

I haven't seen PW fights but you said he flicks his jab out, well Hearns was the king at flicking the jab. So if you're right then that's something they have in common. I doubt PW has the godly right hand to follow it up like the hitman did.

he shouldnt be at welter..the only reason he is calling out other guys is because the height advantage..he should move up back to MW

Well, Williams is left handed, so he doesn't have a godly right hand. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a godly left hand either. Once again, I like Williams. I just think it's sad that there are so many half ass fighters out there that people such as Williams get hyped like he's a future hall of famer or something.

If he can make the weight, he can be there. Many fighters drain weight. MOST do and weigh nearly 2 weight classes higher on fight night.

if i were the elite WW i would freeze williams out of big fights until he couldnt make 147 anymore...he just wants to fight smaller guys thats why he is at 147

Exactly. Where were all the Cotto fans when Miguel was draining big-time to make 140. He actually hurt himself by doing that and should have moved up.

As long as Williams can make the weight, there's no reason for him not to stay there. It's a great division and he holds a belt, so big money should be right around the corner.

I don't think anyone says Williams is a PfP fighter, at least not yet, but I have others have pointed out that he's the best matchup to beat Mayweather. I don't think Floyd would deal well with Paul at all, which is why he's gotten a lot of run here the past couple days.

Same thing happened with Chad Dawson after Calzaghe beat Kessler. He's another guy who is more dangerous to a PfP fighter than the casual boxing public realizes.

Don't most fighters drain? Should everyone avoid Pavlik? Cotto when he was at 140? Gatti? Until they change the rules -- and I'd be fine with it if they did -- Williams has every right to campaign at 147.

Please don't dissrespect Chad Dawson by comparing him to Paul Williams. As far as how Paul Williams would do against Mayweather, well I'll leave that for another day. I don't want this thread to turn into another Mayweather thread, I want to keep the focus on Williams

Williams aint Hearns but the height, reach, and boxing ability bears some simliarity. Williams is a crafty southpaw with high volume.

Hearns was CLEARLY better as Williams doesntt have anything like what Hearns had in power.

Whats funny is when people ask about Hearns and PBF aint never said **** about Williams except, WHO's HE?
