Cotto didnt have an off night he boxed his ass off. It was just that on that night Tony Margarito was just TOO MUCH. Why is it everytime the favored guy gets beat the people say , he had an off night, or he was over rated. What they should be saying is WTG Tijuana Tornado the NEW!!!!!!!!! Welterweight champion of the world

i was more reffering to the fact that high volume and being able to take a punch can give cotto a difficult time and i think paul williams possesses those two attributes.. but like you also said williams defense (especially to the body) is very leaky... so it could go both ways.

but from what i remember of paul williams fight with margarito... margarito was giving pauls body the absolute business and i was convinced paul would crack eventually.. but somehow he survived margarito's body attack... i think if he could survive against margarito he could survive against cotto as well

    thats what im saying..

cotto openly said margarito was just hte better man that night

and ive been a margarito supporter ever since after he lost to pw..
(after pw beat him i disliked margarito because he was unprofessional after the fight) but showed true grit (1 round ko against golden johnson, whipping ass and taking names against cintron) in his trail back to welterweight stardom which is when i started to give him his props agian

Paul williams is a boxer, he moves too much, I think if anything a fight between Williams and Cotto goes to the cards, no stoppage here, the man is a boxer, and to beat Cotto well you saw what it took, someone who consistantly comes forward with alot of pressure and alot of bombs, Paul Williams throws alot I will give him that, but the size of Cotto will make it more difficult for Paul to stop Cotto, Paul will have to find the smaller man and that in itself is a bit of work.
Paul beats Miguel no doubt, but stopping him I doubt it.

Excuse me , but aren't you the guy who came up with approximately 20 reasons why Cotto would defeat Margarito before their fight?

Let me refresh your memory a bit. All the while you gave numerous reasons why Cotto would beat Margarito.
You: " Who has Margarito fought?"
You : " Ok he beat Cintron twice BUT WHO HAS CINTRON EVER FOUGHT?"
    Or something to that effect.
I searched for your posts but they have somehow disappeared so I cannot accurately quote you, so this is as close as I can come.
I'm sure you remember the affair so please do feel free to correct my misgivings.

Based on this......if you're picking Williams to defeat Cotto then of course all my vcash will be riding on Cotto if this fight ever does transpire.

so you result to childish antics...

my posts are there somewhere if you look hard enough

and alot of people got the point of my thread titled
"who is antonio margarito" it had nothing to do with margarito winning or not.... it just meant that margarito is virtually unknown outside of hardcore boxing fans mind... and resume is skimpy.. well was

you act like thats not true anyways... who has cinton faught thats a noteable...

his biggest wins are david estrada & walter matthysse.... are you kidding me?

One fight, and his resume goes from skimpy to stellar?
I thought you claimed you wanted to keep this thread clean?
That's what I'm trying to do, yet you term it childish antics.

    Spare me.

Quintana takes Paul Williams to school and beats the hell out of him for 12 full rounds, hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink.

I'm simply amazed that half the posters here on this thread don't even give Cotto a chance to do the same thing, although Cotto is a FAR SUPERIOR fighter to Quintana.

Styles make fights, and I feel Cottos style and technical ability spells big trouble for Paul Williams. Even more so than did Margaritos style.

Williams toughness is underrated but at the same time Margarito didn't put the same kind f consitant pressure on Williams that he did on Cotto...not until the later rounds anyway and by than it was to late. I honestly think Williams was close to getting stopped in the championship rounds against AM. Just my opinion though...all due respect to Williams for pulling out the "W" put IMO Margarito would put a lot more pressure on Williams from the opening bell and stop him the same way he stopped Cotto if they ever fight again.

A couple of reasons, look at the size difference, Paul is going to have to bend his knees and reach for the smaller man, Cotto can press and box, Paul we have only seen him box he isnta destroyer type fighter like Tony, and that is what it took to get Cotto out of there.

Paul will not attempt to go after Cotto he will look to box and counter as he always does, Cotto will be able to switch back to boxing when he needs to, and with Pauls style I think it will best serve Cotto to box when he has to and fight when he has to.

I just dont see Paul becomming a killer in this fight, he will play it safe and win on the cards, I dont see him risking trying to throw caution to the wind and walk this man down the way Margarito did, even though he did beat Tony in a close fight, Cotto can still crack and we cant say Williams has the chin that with stand as much as Tony was able to with Cotto,.
IMO its safe to say Paul beats him clearly but he doesnt knock the man out

I see Paul winning and in convinging fashion as well. But to say that Paul would KO Cotto faster is questionable. Cotto could, in fact go the distance. Every figth is different and just b/c Marg was able to KO Cotto doesn't neccessarily mean Paul would......I see a KO though as well, but I think it comes around the same time.....rd 11 or 12 in a pretty competitive fight.
