I can't complain about the way the fight turned out. After this fight happened, I was able to use it as an example to the casual boxing fans I know in real life. It was exactly what I mean when I say size and power doesn't win fights.
I don't get the PW hate. People wanted to see him fight Martinez again and he did that. I'm a fan I can't deny that but he's good for the sport. The only thing I disliked about him was him being considered "the most avoided fighter" but besides that he seems like a cool dude. I'm a fan of both Martinez & PW and I was rooting 60/40 for maravilla and I'm glad that he won but am still worried about how Williams will rebound from this. These days guys lose their "0", they're overated and if they get ko'd even by a perfect shot then they're "glass chinned". Idiot-thinking like this isn't helping the sport. The sad part is that some of the same guys that said Chad would beat Jean easily then got a change of heart and say Chad wasn't even good to begin with right after he lost and fail to give Pascal credit for his gameplan. *sigh*
PW was never overrated and was one of the most dangerous fighters prior to the first Martinez fight. His chin was cracked in that fight and primed to be shattered in the rematch. He wasn't taking Cintron's shots well either. Before the Martinez fight I never saw Williams hurt. He absorbed alot of bombs from Margo up and down stairs only to comeback with an 8 punch combo as soon as I thought he was hurt. His chin which made him very dangerous combined with his long arm, rapid fire straight shooting. He threw 100 punches a round and that is dangerous to fight regardless of the opponent when dealing with that reach, above average handspeed and great chin. He wasn't the same after the first Martinez fight. Martinez Dropped him abruptly and while he fought like the warrior he is the rest of the fight. After the fight I know he thought about how much he didn't wanna feel that again. He's Finished and I think we should appreciate the Fighter he was before his chin got checked.
Martinez had a difficult time getting Williams back into the ring. He had to give Williams his venue, his ring, his gloves, his referee, his judges, his commentators, etc. Martinez knew he had to knock Williams out or he would get cheated once again. Count how many punches Martinez landed and compare them with Compu-box stats, yes, the stats lied, not just a little, but a lot!
Watch the shot that took out Williams. It's a helluva knock on Paul, but very few "world class" fighters would get caught by that shot. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b22N-BxSckk[/ame]
Yeah, try to unify titles there. Maybe his first comeback fight could be against K9. He's been looking to get big fights ever since he took out Spinks
Do you mean like he was fighting cintron? Do you mean cautous like that? His defense is terrible even when fighting like that and he still will get sparked. His defense before was his 100 punch offense because his boxing skills are not very good when boxing in a normal manner.
Compubox is BS and just shows that most of the world doesn't know whether punches are landing or not. I hate when clowns bring compubox up to suit thier argument like it's stong. It looks more and more like a tool for justifying robberies just like lederman's scoring and bias commentating trying to tell the people what they are witnessing. Martinez did know he had to knock him out and he also knew that he was gonna be able to hit him. He threw alot of loaded up hayemakers at PW knowing he would catch him eventually. Prolly the first post I've agreed with you on LOL (that I've seen) . :good
