For a guy who has no power and can be outboxed, he's done very well to become a two weight world champion. An impressive accomplishment.
I don't think over-achiever is the right word. If anything, he has arguably partly squandered his potential.
Pauli: If Pacquiao beat Cotto he will be the greatest ever. After Pacquiao beat Cotto. Pauli: Pacquiao is on steroid
It depends on what you believe, but the whole McGirt situation basically. Fighting in the pocket too often and trying to counter, rather than using his speed and being the boxer-mover that made him most successful. That's not to say he wins those fights, but how much worse did he end up looking because of it. But certainly in some ways he's achieved quite a bit for not having all that much so I'm not going to outright disagree.
I'm surprised Paulie wasn't a more prominent amateur. His style is perfect for the unpaid ranks. Really happy for him, people always talk about lack of power but he's slick for a white boy.
i was never really a fan of paulie, i can't stand the jersey shore image. but he earned my respect in the cotto fight. now imagine what we'd be saying about malignaggi if he had more of a punch. we would be mentioning his name up there with a lot of the elite fighters in the game today.
Paulie did extremely well against Cotto. I was made to believe that fight was a punishing but Malignaggi actually won his fair share of rounds and was at least in the fight at the end. And it was a fantastic atmosphere. Sure Cotto wasn't at his best at 140 but it was still a brave display.
