Most people, including fighters, think Loma won. I have no problem with that. I scored the fight 7-5 for Haney but had I been scoring a 12-round whole, I would have awarded it to Loma. But of course that's not how you score.

I haven't seen much credible commentary that Loma won the fight *handily*. And it would be wrong to assert that there were a lot of clear rounds. Later in the fight, yes, but not early. So when you cry robbery, it's silly no matter whether you put "Period." behind it.

Here's a handy guide on scoring:

Competitive - Fight legitimately can go either way
Bad Decision -- You can find the rounds for the winner, but it's giving him too much benefit of the doubt
Robbery -- You can't find the rounds for the winner even if you look for them

Haney/Loma was competitive. At the very most, you might want to argue it was a bad decision. But no it was not a robbery, not even close. People are just being emotional about it.

Pretty sure Paulie knows about Bob's agendas too, like that time Bob was telling all the Mexicans in the room how evil Northern Euros were.

I haven't clicked on it but if Paulie really said that people who scored it for Haney were "happy to see the white guy lose" that is a ****ing disgrace. Anybody condoning that nonsense needs to take a look at themselves. I think Pinoy Prodigy and Chuck Norris scored it for Haney. The notion that those guys "wanted to see the white fighter lose" is pretty much ******ation.

Roy Jones Jr. thinks you have to take the belt from the champion and that Haney's bodywork saved him in the 12th.

No matter what side you fall on this topic, Paulie has a clear, longstanding bias vs. Haney so you have to take what he says with a grain of salt, actually with a tablespoon of salt..............

The 'take the belt from the champion' principle is the dumbest cliche in boxing. All you have to do is win.

Lomachenko isn't white, he's ukrainian . "white" is a term for rootless americans that are a mixed of english/irish/german/polish/scottish/welsh/swedish ect

I think Roy mean "take the belt from the champion in a dark alley".

It's a bit more complex than that. When there are loads and loads of close rounds judges start looking for reasons to award those rounds. It might be "i think he hits slightly harder" but are you tentirely convinced it's not "you have to take the belt from the champ" in some instances? It's a cliche for a reason.

I agree with Roy that judges can be influenced by a champion's status and award rounds they can't otherwise separate based upon that status. Not always but sometimes. It's also worth pointing out that the rules already favour the champ, he keeps his belt where there is a draw.

I would share the sentiment back in time of fewer divisions and single champ. Nowadays its bollocks.

This! It might have been Roy who reignited that dumb old saying after his first ‘win’ against Tarver.

“Uhhh errr well you gotta actually BEAT the champ to be the champ!”

Yep! And Loma did! Had haney asking his daddy frantically for advice in that corner.
