I think this fight makes sence if everything goes to plan. Cotto is taking time out and when he returns the last thing he wants to come up against is a hard hitting welterweight likes Cintron or Mosley. I expect Malinaggi to put on a boxing masterclass against hatton, similar to what floyd did but just longer. Malinaggi has all the tools to make hatton look silly, a good boxing brain, a good defence, speed and movement. Hatton made a big mistake in taking the fight with malinaggi, styles make fights and malinaggi's style will always cause hatton problems, he would have been better off trying to fight ricardo torres or kendall holt. After Malinaggi retires hatton then I think he needs to call out cottto, it will be another big fight in new york and it makes sence for both fighters, malinaggi gets his big payday and a chance to avenge his only loss. for cotto its a fighter that can't knock him out but someone can cause him problems. Malinaggi would be willing to go to 147 and for that reason it makes more sence for cotto as he will be the bigger guy with far more experience at that weight class. It should be a great fight if it comes off.
Malignaggi wont and isnt capable of beating Hatton via a boxing masterclass, he might sneak a decision though I cant see that either but masterclass? Haha certainly not. And Cotto already re-arranged his face at 140 what on earth would the point in more damage at 147 be?
Cotto's atleast 2times better then he was since then...he looks better in each and every fight cant say the same for Paulie....honestly i dont even think Torres would trouble him anymore, and he gave him utter hell last time
Cotto won't give Paulie a rematch there's bigger fights out there for him.but if they fought again Cotto wins maybe by stoppage this time
I really can't imagine Paulie going up to 147 for Cotto seems very unlikely. I do think Paulie could get a close UD or SD against Hatton - depending on what shape Hatton is in - but there is NO WAY WHATSOEVER that Paulie gives him any kind of "MASTERCLASS" or "LESSON". Just not going to happen.
Well....... I have seen the first fight, and whilst Paulie was very brave, he still had his face re-arranged, and has looked awful ever since. Bearing in mind Cotto was weight drained pretty bad, imagine what a healthy version might do? Hatton has slipped, but nowhere near enough to lose to Malignaggi.
I think malinaggi beats hatton by 8 rounds to 4, hatton statring well but in the end the pace will get to him and he will continuously miss. the first fight was great, bob arum aint stuped, he aint going to give cotto a fight against the big players in the division, there is no chance of cotto fighting cintron, mosley, williams or an immediate rematch to margarito, its too risky after the brital fight he just had.
But a rematch here would just be pointless. It'd be a one sided mis match. And even if that is what Cotto needs after Margo he should get it against someone new, not someone he's already mauled.
more resons for the fight to happen, a fight that would make cotto look good, and if he does knock out malinaggi then it will bring back his confidence.
