I too was impressed with Paulie last night. He offered a lot of insight from the viewpoint of a boxer better than most I've heard over the years. He was concise in his analysis of what he was watching along with a bit of humor thrown in for good measure. Broadcasting may be a good fit for him when he finally retires.
Paulie did a good job last night, as did Too Sharp Johnson last week. Mauro Ranallo also did very well. Give me Mauro over Gus Johnson any day of the week.
wow everyone likes him . i actually thought he was talking too much. also when he did talk he took for ever to finish. everyone else just put in there 2 cents and only took a few secs to get it out. paulie would just keep goin n goin i thought he was annoying
Did a very good job. I could understand him for a change...he's slowed down his speech quite a bit. And he speaks American, as opposed to RJJ who talks in an unknown language, or at least unknown to me. I don't know if Tarver can come back from his drugs downfall, but he was good as well. He's sure doing a better job than Lennox "Marbles Mouth" Lewis ever did.
Seriously? The guy shouted all night long.....interrupted Bernstein and was way annoying. Someone here on ESB noted he's an MMA/UFC announcer...he needs to go back to that barbarism or maybe do some wrestling work.
Malinaggi was great. I like his style and would like to see more of him. Also him singing "im coming home.." cracked me up.
hell yea, nice to have commentators that know boxing, hate having dumbass lampley and merchant dickriding sergio the whole time
Yeah, I'm not much a fan of Mauro Ranallo, even when he does MMA telecasts.. He does seem to talk like he's got an audience of the hard of hearing. My wife even commented that she thought the guy with the big mouth was annoying to listen to and harder to look at.:rofl:rofl
I was actually thinking about making this thread last night. The first time I heard him commentating on the Salita fight, I was thinking this can't be Paulie. He sounds too good, and too professional to be that guido lol. Like others have stated, he has excellent observations, can explain the plays in an easy to understand way, he has a high boxing IQ, can explain the mental aspects of the game only a boxer can, and he speaks more clearly than all the other boxers out there. Plus, I just like dude's personality. Much respect to the Magic Man.
This was Years Back. One of those videos that helped introduce Paulie. He has that natural talent that can be easily cleaned up and polished for media work. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMw9GsyOHS8[/ame]
