Paulie's eyes are starting to get that slightly out of it, brain damaged look to them, its time for him to call it a day and concentrate on commentating.
I agree. Plus those guys are aggressive and they rush their opponents and overwhelm them. Paulie seems to struggle against those types.
yeap i agree , i would have liked to see how he would have fared against a top fighter with a danny garica/kell brook kind of style
I dont think he's poor at picking his opponents, he tested himself and that has to be commended, people always comment and say the style was all wrong is just an excuse and/or a wau to devalue their heart in even getting in the ring but to be a world champion and elite fighter not to mention be remembered as a great fighter yoi have to throw down with whomever.
B+ at 140lbs, world class but just short of elite. B- and somewhat lucky to become a title-holder at welter.
How did you score Cotto Malignaggi IB? Because I think I had it a draw without the Paulie KD, but of course I had to count the KD, and for anyone else who hasn't seen it, its a pretty damn good match if I remembering it correctly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VInCOSycbxQ
Damn, really? I don't remember having it that close (and I gave Paulie more credit than most people) That fight sort of underwent a bit of "Liberty Valance" treatment where in hindsight it gets talked about like Cotto laid a Calzaghe vs. Lacy on him. :yep Not quite how it went down.
yeah everyone goes on like he was battered from pillar to post it was a good tough fight that cotto won by a few points
From what I remember Cotto didn't school Paulie too badly, it's just the punches Cotto landed were a lot harder than the ones Paulie landed.
Paulie's scene is @ 23:10 http://www.cbs.com/shows/blue_blood...e4zaleQ14rqWCLk4/blue-bloods-home-sweet-home/ (gotta disable ad blocking software...but CBS.com is hardly sketchy...)
Its been awhile I'm going to rewatch it, but I think I had Cotto winning 115-113 with the KD, I pointed out how well Paulie did in spite of having a messed up jaw a few months back and some Cotto fans attacked me and like you said acted like he got Lacy'd. Also The Man who Shot Liberty Valance damn good movie.:good
Great talker prefer him behind the mic or in the studio, shame he had no power. Great heart, had some beatings against the better fighters but never ducked anyone.
Actually, hell with it (they make you watch too many ads), here you go: [yt]rccvIu7jdKU[/yt] I just recorded his scene on my cell phone and uploaded it myself. Excuse the dim light. (Lil Butt is taking a nap) Honestly, that show has seen worse acting. I don't think he is half bad at it, should he want to pursue bit roles in addition to providing commentary. He should be done with prizefighting, though. He won't be smart or pretty for long (or eligible for acting roles or ringside commentary) if he keeps that up.
Paulie has options outside of the ring, something a lot of his peers don't. He needs to make his way to Canastota (as a patron), and enjoy his success as a commentator. He could do a lot worse.
