[yt]WzBb2xQZ4O0[/yt] I'm not sure if all that was just for the cameras but if it was a clear indication of the training Filho has been doing lately (and I'll assume it is!) I'm not surprised he's been performing so awful. Hitting the mits in the middle of a field and piggybacking people around said field is not exactly the type of training I would expect from a world class competitor. Filho needs to find a proper gym pronto and get some good sparring partners and some people who know what they're doing in regards to how to train an MMA fighter! I would have laughed off this video back in his Pride days taking it as a publicity stunt but by judging his last couple of terrible performances I get the impression that this might actually be his training!:scaredas:atsch PS. Arona would never get past the NSAC's drug testing!
Not at all. There's thousands of workouts that will work you just as hard and perhaps in some cases better than what you would do in a regular jym. Many of which will look VERY unconventional. If you don't believe my word, just think of this logically. Filho is one of the best middleweights in THE WORLD. He has VERY experienced trainers around him, you can be convinced they know wtf they're doing. I'll agree with one thing, the piggybacking 3 people is unusual, I'll admit I've never seen that before. I would think that would be bad for your back/spine. Hittin the "mits" (I assume you mean the tires) with a sledgehammer is quite a popular excercise and it work several parts of your body at the same time and help you with explosiveness. You can put this excersice in the same group as chopping wood or like excercises.
Holy ****, Arona is jacked right now. ****ing pit boys though, with fresh knife wounds on his arms:verysad Hopefully he doesn't pull a Ryan Gracie.
Filho spends most of his time training in Mass with Gonzaga and Marco Avalon at team Link, thats why Arona was so happy to see him. He gets plenty of good training in both places. The funniest **** was after his fight with Sonnen his dad was interviewed and was pissed off at how Filho fought, saying that he always tells him that he should stop worrying about muay thai, which he calls "like a ballet" and kept saying he needs to train Judo and BJJ, it was great.
I didn't say what Filsho was doing was ineffective but........hes just randomly doing it in a field! Not great facilities to train one of the best middleweights in the world. When a fighter performs **** for a couple fights you begin to wonder why he's fighting like that, I saw that video and it kind of explained to me anyway why he might be giving subpar performances.
