Light weight is the most packed division in the Sport - Pacman, Marquez, Valero, Guzman, Diaz, Miller, Casamayer etc Then c/o Juan Diaz coming a unifield champ and thus a WBA Super Champ, their basic belt changes hands between a number of fringe contenders, all of which have the right to call themselves champ Can anyone recall - Jose Alfaro v Prawet Singwancha, Yusuke Kobori v Jose Alfaro, or see last nights fight - Paulus Moses v Yusuke Kobori. I guess not.
Kinda hard when they were fighting eachother Moses won by a UD, in the other big fight thw WBC Super Bantam was decided by Toshiaki Nishioka stopping Genaro Garcia in the 12th round
joan guzman is his mandotary so chances are he won't be champ for long, the guys got a decent record, but most of his fights have been in africa although he did fight in ukraine and knocked out the home boy.
This guy seems to be pretty good. Should be a good scrap against guzman. There is a rumor that he will now be facing Barrera.
barrera is WBO mando, and moses is the WBA champ, i can't see it happening but this fight took place in japan i think, and barreras last fight was there too so maybe don king might be able to pull a few strings and it might happen. guzman is still the most likely next opponent.
Koburi vs. Moses was a mandatory defense, so Moses wont have a mando due for 9 months. He can fight whoever he wants........
the WBA want guzman as there champ, after nate they have sorted him out unlike other boxing commisions who were just plain stuped for turning there back on him. moses would take a fight with guzman, compared to his other fights it would be a farely decent amount of money he could make. and if he impresses then it would be good for boxing as there would be another decent fighter in the lightweight division. guzman will unify the division by the end of 09, then he will go on to beat pacquiao and hatton at 140.
Has anyone seen the Moses fight? I was actually in Japan when the fight happened, but missed it because I didn't realize the fight was on during the day and not at night atsch
I spent literally 30 seconds watching Moses and his opponent on YouTube and came to the conclusion Moses would win. His opponent Kobori was dire, absolutely awful. How he got a portion of the strap is beyond comprehension. Slow as ****. I wouldn't read too much into Moses.
I've seen Kobori vs Alfaro. Didn't manage to see the Moses fight though. I don't think he's anything special though.
It will be a bit hard for Guzman to "unify" the division, when theres no way he is fighting for the IBF or WBO belts, dont ya think?
he should be the WBA champ by the summer, and at that time, the barrera vs campbell fight should be taking place, and with marquez possibly still being ring magasine champ, then there is a chance of marquez fighting guzman as manny will probably not give him another shot. marquez vs guzman would be a great fight, and in the past its been a fight that i have found difficult to call, but i think guzman will end marquez's days at 135 and send him back down to avenge his loss against chris john. now barrera vs campbell would be a close fight, i just think with barrera being a HBO fighter and with don king in his corner, then if its close i would think barrera would get the decision. if barrera wins guzman becomes his WBA mandotary, and i would expect guzman to be too slick for barrera to handle. after this fight i think manny will come back down to 135 so he could defend his WBC belt against the WBA, WBO, IBF and ring magasine champion, now this would be a great fight, but as you probably now know i'm a guzman fan and so i think it would be a 50-50 fight. guzman becoming the unified champ is a long shot, but if everything goes to plan it could happen.
