Pavlik may be in for the fight of his life though many are giving Martinez a very slim chance.

I thought Martinez schooled Paul Williams. I've watched that fight over and over again trying with all my might to justify a win by Williams and still CAN'T. I felt and still feel that Martinez was robbed.

I also watched the Cintron fight, and clearly thought Martinez won the fight hands down, yet came out with a draw. This is a slick fighter who knows he's been cheated and doesn't want to be cheated again.
In my opinion ( subject to critique by the many assholes on this forum ) Martinez is essentially a ONE LOSS fighter with that loss coming by knockout in his 18th professional fight to none other than Antonio Margarito. I'd venture to guess that past fight might turn out different today in a rematch.

There's no doubt that Pavlik has power in the right hand and is a pressure fighter. How will he deal with a slick quick and elusive counter punching southpaw? I'd surmise not very well.
I expect this fight to see Pavlik coming out and going for the kill almost immediately, knowing his boxing skills pale in comparison to Martinez.
If he gets the knockout, I think it will come within rounds 1-7.

If it doesn't go that way, I see Martinez winning this fight by landslide on points with the massacre starting in rounds 3 or 4 until the final bell.

    Lopsided victory Martinez?????????

    What do you guys think?

I don't think so. This is going to be a 57' Chevy vs. a 95' 300ZX. Martinez isn't sturdy enough to withstand trading knockdowns and getting hurt - the sort of stuff that has become mandatory for FOY consideration.

Paul Williams didn't even come close to knocking Martinez out as many thought he would. There are many who swear Williams would give Pavlik a beating.

For some reason though......and I don't know why.......something tells me that Pavlik has a FAR BETTER chance of knocking Martinez out than did Williams.
I don't know why I think that, something's just telling me that Martinez is going to eat a few HARD right hands tonight.

Well, I think right now it may'be the leading caindate for FOTY or may'be even 2nd, but I don't think that this fight will hold up for the year. I see Martinez having success early, but Pavlik just starts breaking him down and takes out Martinez late. It should be a good fight though.

Well -- you ask, so here it comes.

I think this is one of the least likely scenarios I've read.

If Martinez is so slick and elusive, why does he get hit so much? Look at the facts. Williams landed a mere 24% on Margarito who is slow, and does not have great defense. PDub landed 33% on Sergio over all, and in some rounds over 40%.

Those who claim Martinez is some some sort of highly skilled master boxer, and vastly superior to KP, are just flat wrong. Please name one opponent Martinez won a decision over who is as good as Jermain was when he was at or near his peak.

Your theory that Pavlik will come out and go for the kill immediately shows pretty clearly that you have not been paying attention. I won't be surprised if Martinez tries to bum rush KP, but Pavlik nearly always takes 3-5 rounds to hit his stride.

And, I fully expect Martinez to make it into the 8th round. He won't see the final bell, but he may be the first guy to see the 10th against KP at 160. That depends on how aggressive Sergio is. If he fights like he did against Williams, this **** is over before the mid rounds. If he fights a lot smarter, he can probably do well for awhile.

Martinez was fading in the Williams fight. Im sorry to say that Pavlik didnt fade even when being totally dominated against Popkins. I think this will be his downfall, Pavliks pressure.
