Still would rather see Pavlik-Williams as I think Paul is wildly over hyped and over rated. But will take Martinez-Pavlik if that one can't be made.
Old news. We've been talking about it here. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=196905 Sources close to Pavlik's camp brought it up a while ago. Not a done deal and things still subject to change, but it looks like early April if it happens. Williams is still being talked about for both camps but he won't be ready to go till May or June because he was busted up pretty good in his last fight.
Good comeback. And Pavlik - Martinez would be nice. However, I'd much rather see Pavlik - Williams or Martinez - Williams. Mostly because I want to see P. Willy get his ass kicked again and I think those two guys could get the job done.
That one paragraph on this subject had a more inaccurate info than accurate. The best sources say Team Pavlik and Top Rank are not waiting until May for anyone. They actually talked about getting KP back in the ring as early as February. IF a Pavlik/Martinez fight happens, the date HBO has available is April 3rd. Furthermore, a rival sight reported some movement on Pavlik/Williams within an hour of the Martinez info coming out.
Dibella and Martinez want the Pavlik fight, but they are not in the drivers seat. We know for a fact that Pavlik and Arum want Williams. We know HBO threw plenty of money at this fight last fall. They would no doubt honor their previous offer. After all, Pwilly did "win" a fight of the year candidate on HBO. Furthermore, a Pavlik fight represents a bigger pay day than anything else PW could reasonably hope for. All that remains to be seen now is whether or not Williams will get his balls back from Goosen, and insist on making the fight.
