Just watched Williams/Martinez again. Paul certainly did his best to make that a tough fight and make Martinez look good. Geez..... No wonder people are expecting Martinez to look so good against Pavlik. Kelly isn't going to be raising the landing gear and come flying in. Call him slow and flat footed instead of slow and methodical if it makes you feel better but he isn't going to give Martinez near the openings Williams did. Kelly will be slowing him down MUCH earlier than Paul did. Guaranteed if he gets into the same types of exchanges he did with Paul Williams he will be taking a nap pretty damned quick.

Martinez MUST NOT try to fight Kelly the way he did Paul. KP would demolish Martinez on the inside. Another factor is that niether Cintron nor Williams really knows how to cut off the ring, but Martinez still ended up with his back on the ropes over and over. We all know what happens when Pavlik traps a guy on the ropes.

I'd like to see them talk smack about Dzindziruk then. It would be the text equivalent of Lennox Lewis pronouncing Paulie Malignaggi.

truth be told no one at 160 is going to beat pavlik today. many may see that as an indictment of the mw division but nevertheless...martinez, williams, sturm, winky, anyone today that lines up at 160 is going to get knocked out.

for williams and winky it would be the first time they got stopped and for sturm and martinez it wont be but it would happen to all of them. it kills some people that kelly is just too big and strong at mw right now but that is just the way it is.

sorry but if castillo could crack that Chin. I have no doubt KP can. Kp out jabs Strum and his right hands smashes in to his face. Strurm Quits on his stool after round 7 in which he was put down.

sturm stupidly decided to stand and trade with the guy, thats not his style and he got caught. pavlik got knocked down by taylor who isnt a big puncher, just sayin. sturm has a better jab (not stronger) IMO then pavlik and can outbox. sturms skill set is better then pavliks IMO

but sturm isn't very moblie. and Taylor is a strong puncher whos although isn't a Ko artist tends to stunn his opponets. just look at his first fight with B-hop (who has a granit chin) and add to that Taylor hit him with about 15 punches and a couple of foreamrs. and whala he put Kp down. and no many fighters wina jabinf contest with KP. your best bet is to take the jab away. by side stepping it or ducking a little and sticking your own jab into his chest and offsetting him. Sturm can't do either one effectivly. sturm is a very good fighter but not that tough . Kp long arms touch him first and frequently.

Pavlik (<--- thanks everyone who pointed this out) is just too powerful for any present day MW. look at the amount of punches williams shipped against margo, quintana and martinez. there is no way he would take that many pavlik shots and still be standing.

I do believe that winky would beat him tho. stylistically williams was bad for winky as he was just far too active. but pavlik is sloower than williams which would even the playing field a bit.

as for sturm vs pavlik, well pavlik takes that by a brutal 11th round ko when sturm has lost his heart and defence

At 160 Pavlik's KO ratio in fights scheduled for 10 or more rounds is 100%. Only two guys saw the 9th round at 160. Two guys saw the 8th round. The rest got sparked in 7 rounds or less. Seven of KP's victims had never been stopped before, and a couple had never even been seriously hurt.

A prime Winky Wright fought at LMW, he was a bit passed his best when he moved up to MW. Pavlik is a tough match up for Winky, given his volume of punches. Still, in volume KP is nowhere near PW, so I'd go with WW to win a decision, though things could get a bit spicy, with KP's hard punching right hand.
