Pavlik: “By beating the crap out of (Martinez), we’ll silence the Williams camp,”

Pavlik believes a dominant win over Martinez will change that — and send a message to Williams. “By beating the crap out of him, we’ll silence the Williams camp,” said Pavlik, who still hopes to fight Williams in the future. “Winning a decision or by late-round stoppage would be a big thing.”

    Also from the article:

“You can’t overextend yourself with Sergio Martinez. You always have to have your body in control.”
Pavlik likens Martinez to a hybrid of Jermain Taylor (fast hands, fast feet) and Bernard Hopkins (good counter-puncher, crafty).

bad thinking on team Pavlik's part

Styles makes fights, and by beating one man, you don't beat or silence another.

Just like he was going to silence Calzaghe by whooping B-Hops? yeah right...... we all saw how that went.

Its one of the keys to beating Martinez, I actually don't think Martinez fairs all that well stylistically to Pavlik.

Pavlik sets everything up behind a jab or a double jab, and doesnt fall into opponents unless they're able to turn him, which I think Martinez isnt physically strong enough to do.

Martinez can win this one by darting in and out and keeping away, he's not going to get the counter opportunities he had with Paul Williams, he needs to approach this one slightly different.

On an honest note, I always said Paul Williams is in trouble vs the best at 154 and definitely at 160lbs.

Anyone else feel Paul wants to move down to 147lbs for a legitimate reason (not the money), but by having an enormous advantage in height and reach, and not being touched by physically stronger men.

Kermit Cintron is a feel-out stepping stone at 154lbs, I just feel that the feel out stepping stone this time is a big puncher, and it can end badly for Paul if he isn't defensive minded in the early goings.

I agree, I hope he get's the nod if this fight is close.
Either that or he get's KTFO, either way. He deserves a fair shake.

So you PW nuthuggers dont think that if Pavlik stops Martinez that would make a statement against PW?

Im starting to think PW fans are getting to be as bad as *******s.

I wonder if we can now start naming them also....

Apparently Jack Loew has a masterplan to sort out Martinez........sources close to him say it involves Pavlik doubling the jab.

And tell me again why that would be a bad strategy for this fight? Smaller guy that is quick that you want to keep on the outside... :huh
