Since there wasn't actually a poll in the other thread on this.

Edit: By Pavlik I mean the Pavlik camp including Arum and by Abraham I mean his team including Sauerland - I'm not suggesting either fighter is scared of the other.

Well neither of them are actually falling over each other to make the fight. They are too busy fighting Gary Lockett etc etc

I'm sorry Boo if AA dressing like one of the smurfs then stopping Ikeke was meant to shed some light on things it didn't - it must have went above my head.

:lol: That smurf ring entrance thing was quality!

I don't think either ducked each other necessarily, think both fighters were up for the fight but the promoters and their greed ****ed it up.

I mostly blame Arum for his "get better known in the US" crap but the fighters I can excuse to a degree.

Hope the fight still happens one day at 168!

I don't think either fighter was scared of the other but was more meaning "Team Pavlik" or "Team Abraham" i.e. Arum or Sauerland.

ok well i wouldn't maybe call it ducking then but i think arum more to blame than anyone else. At least team abraham called pav out directly whereas pav mentioned abraham amonst a host of other names as potentials and arum said he wasn't enough of a draw in the US.

**** happens but I think top rank ****ed around too long and were happy to set up fights like Pavlik-Mora instead of fighting AA, knowing that AA would eventually move up to 168.

I agree with all your points exept I'm less bothered about seeing it at 168 unless they both win belts there.

At 160 it would have been the biggest fight that could get made, at 168 there are a lot of other good fighters like Kessler, Bute etc and I doubt the fight will mean as much at that weight.

Abraham wasn't and still isn't enough of a draw. He wants a career high pay day. If he wants that, he can have it as soon as he proves he can put asses in seats and sell PPV buys. That's how fighters get paid. Right now a Pavlik/Abraham PPV would completely bomb. These guys ain't exactly household names.

I have never understood why people hack on Arum for telling Sauerland to build Arthur's US profile. Sauerland ask for a **** load of money. The figures I've read amount to about $2 million. In other words they want the kind of money that Taylor and BHop made, but they do not want to bring or build their own fan base.

I have a couple different freinds who know enough about boxing to know all about the up coming Darchinyan/Agbeko fight. In other words, they know something about what goes on in boxing. Neither one had a freaking clue who Abraham is until I told them. The guy is a virtual unknown except among hardcore boxing fans, and we make up a VERY small percentage of any fighter's fan base.

I noticed that after Pavlik's dismal performance against Hopkins, you started hearing the name Abraham less and less from the lips of Arum, Jack Lowe, and Cameron Dunkin, Pavlik's manager.

Afterall, Abraham is not just a powerpuncher -- he's a fairly savvy technician. He doesn't get hit a lot.

I think Team Pavlik would be pretty happy if every mandatory were a slow stiff brawler like Rubio.

Pavlik vs. Abraham is the only title fight that mattters at 160, but we may not get to see it.
