no one ducked BUT abraham pushed for the fight, numerous times and in public. Pavlik didn't. i know there is money and politics to consider but one man wanted the fight BADLY and one man was willing to let his promoter make excuses for avoiding it

haha, yeah but EVERYONE calls out oscar. **** i called out oscar once. the point is AA is pavlik's TRUE rival and the only middle worth a ****. the division has two fighters, one isn't terrible eager to fight the other.
I find it hard to believe that top rank couldn't build the fight up without Abraham having more fights in America. Can they not show clips of his KO's and talk about his record. Going back some years, Gerald Mclellan wasn't a household name in Britain outside of boxing fans but there was no problem convincing everyone here that he was the business before Nigel Benn fought him. I'm not for one minute saying that Abraham is near Mclellans level before anyone starts, but he has a lot of highlight reel KO's, has made around 10 defenses of a world title and has beat Miranda on American TV. He must bring in more TV revenue from Europe too. I know about the time difference and everything but whether you move the fight time forward a couple of hours or try and get Germans to stay up late or whatever, there must be money to be made from having two stars from different continents fighting each other.
When did promoting a Sauerland fighter become Top Ranks responsibility? I've heard that argument before, and honestly Billy, it makes absolutley no sense. And yes, AA would bring in some German TV revenue. My understanding is that Sauerland/Abraham want 100% of that revenue, and a hefty guarantee. People seem to lose track of the fact that Pavlik beat the man who vacated the title Abraham holds. Hopkins unified the division. Taylor beat Hopkins twice. Taylor vacated the IBF and WBA titles. After AA won the IBF title, JT offered him a fight. Sauerland said no thanks, and made a fight with Demers. Pavlik then beat Taylor twice. Pav is The Middleweight Champion of the World. Arthur is just a challenger who happens to have a title. When a challenger calls out the champ, he can expect the champion's promoter to lay out a few conditions. Arum ask Sauerland to do one thing. Sauerland failed to comply.
I don't know the exact answer to this, but Pavlik hasn't wanted anyone good since Hopkins clowned his ass. And in fact, he hasn't risked his title against anyone good since winning it about two years ago. It looks to me like the Hopkins fight may have taken away his self-confidence, and his people's confidence in him.
so you are saying its 100% his fault that he had to fight jt at a catchweight after taking his strap?? b/c if my memory serves me correctly...and i know it does...jt exercised his rematch clause immediately and pav beat him again. its not pav's fault that the contract was above mw...had it been at mw again and pav beat him there would this be good enough?
Congratulations! I think you just made the most misinformed post of the day. Pavlik has fought once since Hopkins; a mandatory who earned the right to be there. Now he is taking time off because his wife just had their second child, a son. So much for the shaken confidence theory. Pavlik's 6 most recent opponents are: Rubio Hopkins Lockett Taylor Taylor Miranda. Abraham's 6 most recent opponents are: Oral ( ranked #29) Simon ( ranked #43 ) Marquez Miranda Ayala Elcock. Now please -- come back here and tell me with a straight face Pavlik is ducking this great championatsch
No, no, no. The ask was a $1 million purse for Abraham, that is 100,000 less than Kelly got for his first fight with Taylor, and that they get the German TV rights as that is their audience. Don't twist things Boo, they never asked for 100% of the revenue or a ridiculous guarantee, unless you think 1 million is ridiculous.
I said they wanted 100% of the German TV revenue. when did they ask for $1 million? Link please. I've never seen ANYTHING from Sauerland that looked like a real proposal.
It's not top ranks responsibility to promote a Sauerland fighter but if promoting a Pavlik opponent helps sell a fight it would be in their interests to do so because they would make more money from the fight. No-one is questioning that Pavlik is the real World Champion i.e. lineal, universally recognized and all those things but the fact is Abraham has held his belt since around the same time that Pavlik was fighting Zuniga for the NABF title and has never been able to fight himself into a shot at Pavlik as a result of holding that belt. The only other comparable fight I could see for Pavlik at middleweight is Paul Williams, it's not like he has better things to do than fight Abraham but it seems like he will only fight mandatories (which Abraham couldn't be,) and doesn't want to risk loosing his titles in any other fights. I think it is a lot to ask for to expect Abraham to keep fighting in America, away from his fanbase in Germany, until Bob Arum decides he has enough recognition. Abraham did fight Miranda in America in a fight he didn't have to take and done the business in eye catching style. What more are Top Rank looking for? His next fight was a mandatory against Marquez, should he have took that to America and made **** all? I know you see it differently but I think it casts a shadow over Pavliks reign if he doesn't fight Abraham and Abraham does well at 168. I've said before that I would make Pavlik favourite if they did fight and I'm not hating on him I'm just disapointed the fights unlikely. Once AA is gone most of the other middleweights are **** in comparison and if Pav doesn't fight the biggest potential challenger for his titles since he won them then it takes some a bit of gloss off things imo.
**** happens. Abraham is an unknown commodity in the States. Too much risk - too little reward and too many demands.
Come back when you actually read my post, jackass. I said in the very first sentence that I didn't know who was ducking who. Nice of you to spend an entire post showing your utter lack of reading comprehension. And no, not "so much for my theory." You agreed exactly with what I described, and then offered another reason for it. Hardly conclusive of anything.
