All things considered, ya gotta give AA his props for the Miranda rematch. The two things that stick in my craw are fighting Ayala when it should have been Zuniga, and offering Winky about half of the amount he already turned down for a fight wth Pavlik.

the thing that sticks in my mind is abraham winning in germany - and regardless of the controvery about who people thought won it one thing stuck out for me.

abraham got a broken jaw in that fight, his corner told him he had to finish the fight to win it and my (legitimate) reaction to miranda crowing about that fight and then signing a rematch was - if you break someone's jaw and the decision is still in doubt after 12 rounds then you better be better prepared for the rematch.

abraham wants this - he wants the big fights and he's not willing to be felix sturm or joe calzaghe and cry about what he could have accomplished if he had the chance.....but never go for it when the opportunity was available.

i never got my jaw broken in a fight like that but if you choose to box you have to overcome a lot of doubt - especially when you're you're young - if you really want to achieve something.

abraham and hatton both won't lose any sleep when their careers end.

    regardless of what happens.

I had to do a lot of PM's with some of Y-towns finest with the whole ticket stuff, and had to erase most (all) of my PM's. Do you still have it stored where you can send it to me again?

    I'm a **** and can't remember the details.

I have wondered about the 'pond' factor. Current blame is HBO/Showtime don't want the fights. But really. Look at the Ryder Cup. HUGE event here.

It's no big deal. Just a wise crack that flopped.

its not about hbo or showtime dont 'want' the fights.

the promoters are usually to blame because its rare they have a nest egg to milk.

warren is notorious for not wanting his fighters to fight out of britain and the same goes for mogens palle after kessler lost to calzaghe.

felix sturm beat oscar - a lot of people will say and there's a call for that - but he's been a money spinner in germany since.

Pavlik is in tough. This fight is a very good match up. IMO too close to call both fighters have something going for them.Pavlik has a tremendous work rate which should serve him well. But AA has big power and very accurate punching. Could go either way.

It will. I've said many times that if it were left entirely up to KP and AA they would settle things right quick. However, that's not how boxing works, and we all know that. JSimps seems to have an in with Team Pavlik, and he thinks the fight will happen in June.

However, if Winky beats Williams, Pavlik might want Winky first. There is a lot of history there, and it ain't the good kind. Plus, AA is young and will be around for a long time, but fighting Winky might be now or never.

winky hasn't helped himself by being so inactive for so long...and starting a promo company.

    and that i don't get....

ask around in 20 years who winky wright was and i really get the feeling now that he won't get the rep he deserves.

back in the 80's he was genuinely - genuinely - avoided (and you cant say that about many fighters).

but since he beat shane and tito he's priced himself out of the market and been his own worst enemy.

Agreed. Winky has one of the best, most repsectable resume's in the business. McKart X 3, Vargas, Mosely X 2, Trinidad, Taylor, Hopkins, et. He did not win all those fights, but damn, he fears no one. However, his own assesment of his value as a draw is plain silly. He TURNED DOWN $2.4 million and a cut of the PPV revenue to fight Pavlik.
