The more you get into the money issues, the more you fall into the promoters' nest and the cycle of this bull**** keeps going...

That's exactly why they can milk in certain fights...because hardcore fans accept it....

Two guys that traded the WBC 154 pound belt back and forth are "undeserving" to put on 6 pounds and face the best there? OK... sure.... In Mora's case that was the first time he was that low in years. But, OK.

Sauerland is just as full of it as Arum. They are just trying to get Pavlik to fight on AA's home turf with the possibility that the fight might make more money in Germany than in the US. That $3 Million offer from Sauerland is BS.

Hermit and Booradley..I have lots of respect for your opinions on this forum, but right now you 2 should seriously be pushing for an immediate Abraham-Pavlik fight instead of anything else because that's the only fight that has truly made sense in the last 12 months at 160 LBS !!!

For boxing's sake...not multimillionnaire promoters' sake.....So please rally with other fans and stop pushing forward the bull**** agenda of trying to make AA more known in the USA.....

NO BULL**** ! In the States, Right now, Pavlik-Abraham for all the marbles at 160 !!!!!!!!!

P.S. : I do agree that going to Germany would be a mistake...

What they do at 154 is irrelevant as to what they do at 160.

For instance Miguel Cotto may one day dominate 147...but if he goes up to 154 to fight the top guy (Paul Williams, Vernon whomever) he'd be undeserving because he's done nothing at 154.

Arum is talking about Mora because Mora has zero chance at beating what he thinks is his cash cow...But what Arum needs to realize is that Pavlik really ain't no draw except in Ohio and Taylor is still much more popular than him...promoters these days are not smart and if I was promoting Pavlik i'd know that even a loss agains AA would only raise stock because the fight guarantees a war and a KO...now if Forrest ****s around and decisions a drained AA, Arum will feel very stupid...

I want this fight. No mistake there. And this is as honest as I can get. I'm afraid it is already too late. Look at the weigh in photos from the first Marquez bout and the Simon fight. Then look at the photo's from the Miranda weigh in when AA was 6 pounds heavier. I don't know if Saurland's promise of a nutritionist will help or not. Think Oscar/Pac.

But, let's say the fight happens next week. Let's say Pavlik wins. You know what we hear the following week? There is no one left for Pavlik to fight at 160. He should move up to 168 NOW or he is just milking his title. All the good bouts are at 168. So, if this fight happened tommorrow, there would be no let up in the grief Kelly gets on this board. I've learned to live with that. :deal

So, winning a belt at one level means you start all over at the bottom in the next? You have a valid point, to a point. However, I think you are stretching it in this case to fit what you want it to say for this thread. At this point if Pavlik doesn't fight Mora we will have to put up with the "ducking" posters. But, I'm learning to let it roll off my back like water off a .......

That's kind of what happens when you're the best in a division. People want to see you get challenges so obviously they say "Move up in weight."

Point is Kelly or Abraham SHOULD move up after they face off. Sturm damn sure isn't going to take a big money fight with one of them and lord knows Arum HATES Paul Williams and won't even consider the notion.

    Why not?

That's absolutely not my point and to say it like that pretty much takes it out of context.

If Andre Berto cleans out 147 and says "I wanna go up to 154", He should be slotted appropriately...not #1 challenger or not worthy of a title shot. In the top 10-ish certainly, But he should have at least ONE fight against SOMEONE in the top 10 in that division before he earns a title shot.

read my above post...Arum is the one holding Pavlik back and destroying a possible great win for Pavlik...AA is drained at 160 and Pavlik probably wins if he boxes carefully and doesn't try to rush a KO...i have no problem with a Pavlik/Mora fight, but does it make more money than a Pavlik/AA fight? the answer is no and Pavlik's stock would be increased even with a loss against AA because the fight promises a war...Pavlik needs to raise his stock because the average fan remembers Hopkins more than Taylor...

That's BS. Far more chance of a robbery for AA in Germany than one for Pavlik in the states. yeah Sturm happened but overall, foreign fighters get a much fairer shake here than if an American went to some place like Germany. Fights going to happen here obviously or AA would not be bothering to come here for any fights.

Calzaghe/Hopkins would have never happened then. Joe would not have retired with the ring belt at 175.

Under your scenario there would be very few people willing to move up unless they had to. Drop your belt and spend at least two or three years working your way to another title shot? You assume you get one top 10 win and a title shot follows. You know the politics better than that.

I see division champs as worthy of fighting each other.
