Here is an interesting bit of trivia on Pavlik and Abraham. While all the talk about Abraham's KO power is understandable, Pavlik's KO ratio is roughly 10% higher than Arthur's; 90% vs 80%. ( Feel free to add to AA's list if you know things i don't. I'm sure some of you do.) AA's best KO's were over: Miranda; Pavlik KOed him first, but AA got him quicker. Gevor; stopped by another prospect back in '03 Ikeke; Taller with more reach than Pavlik, but the similarities end right there. Pavlik's best KO's were over: Jermain Taylor; undefeated, universally recognized middleweight champion. Miranda; never stopped before Pav stopped him. Zertuche: never stopped until Pavlik stopped him McKart; never stopped until Pavlik stopped him Zuniga; never stopped before or after Pavlik.
I'm not counting Lockett because I'm only trying to look at each man's BEST knockouts. Lockett is not anywhere close to say Zuniga, or McKart, let alone Taylor.
Abraham would of KO'd Zuniga, Taylor, Lockett, Zertuche and McKart if he had fought them. Thankyou and goodnight.
It is the fact that Abraham KO's people with 1 or 2 shots which show's he has more power, where as Pavlik hits people with many more before he stops them. That show's that Abraham has the better 1 punch KO power.
I agree; he probably has more one-punch power, but that does not make him a better KO artist. It actually means he is more limited because his style is predicated around being able to land that one shot.
First off I ever mentioned Lockett. In fact I specifically stated that Lockett doesn't belong in this comparison. AA might have KO'ed Zertuche and McKart. Not Zuniga or Taylor. It took him 11 rounds and 2:30 of the 12th to get rid of Elvin Ayala! No ****ing way would he KO Zuniga or Taylor.
No, I'm not saying Pavlik has more power. I'm just comparing the records of two guys who are obviously very good at knocking people out.
Pavlik goes after his opponent for the 1st bell, while AA does very little until the other guy comes to him.He often leaves it too late to get the KO while Pavlik wears the other fighters down until they can't run anymore
Because as somebody already stated Abraham admittedly struggles with movers, all Ayala did was run around the ring until he finally got caught. Zuniga and Taylor wouldn't do that.
Miranda couldn't stop him with a broken jaw first time round and then a broken rib second time. Abraham is a warrior he won't get KO'd.
