    I really like Arthur Abraham.

I'm going to be the only one rooting for him in the building if he faces off with Pavlik in Ohio.:D

As I said earlier in the thread:

Abraham's first KD punch against Miranda Saturday was a short compact pile-driver.

The looping hooks you mention, only came into play as part of the endgame, and most finishers use such shots when their quarry is wounded and being finished off.

He didn't throw those loopers until Miranda was on ***** street.

I agree, also I think Pavliks defense has become much more developed and refined than many give him credit for.......every time he's not punching the hands are up solid, but in a position that allows for quick striking and countering himself:deal

Thats merely a matter of coincidence not indicitive of true style which by the way Abraham displays ALL THE TIME....theres no guesswork here.......If you want to talk about who fights better on the inside Pavlik wins every time there, due to the fact that Abraham LUNGES forward to get the most of his punches....in the process sacrifices every last bit of defense he has.....this is how Pavlik wins easy...staying composed and countering those loopy hooks when Abraham is brave enough to throw them

His defense is improved for sure, but still not great in terms of head or upperbody movement. He will still be open to hooks when throwing his straight shots, and AA will definitely land some big shots, no question.

His sheer workrate alone leaves him open to getting hit.

One more time, huh. Not only is Kelly a very tactical fighter, he's got one of the best chins the sport has ever seen. AA's too much like a larger Mayorga to defeat a clever, and very tuff, fighter like Pavlik. I foresee a TKO in favor of Kelly in the late rounds. Not only is AA a bleeder, he doesn't have quite the chin Kelly has. AA doesn't have the focus, accuracy, or power to discourage (much less) defeat a true Middle Weight Champion like Kelly Pavlik.

Wasn't the Zuniga - Pavlik KD really similar to this? Pav leaning back with his guard dropped and getting hit by a looping hook?

hmmm perhaps you underrate Pavliks ability to slip punches and I overrate....
Nonetheless the overall difference in skillset is vast....and again Pavlik has dealt with Abrahams style before...the same can't be said for Abraham...which is why I favor Pavlik so strongly here:good

I can actually see this fight ending the same way Pavlik-McKart ended....by a vicious and crippling body shot....bet on it folks....Abrahams arms up all high and ****....he's truly asking for it

It was but then Zuniga started paying the price for throwing looping shots.

Let us not forget how Kelly took what was arguabally Taylor's best assult surge on any REAL NAME fighter (in Pavlik/Taylor 1) and quickly got back up to soon thereafter whip that boy's ass. Do you honestly think a real bleeder and inferior chinz gonna fair much better than what Jermain did in either of thier two fights? Give me an effin' break. AA's best forecast is to make it 12 rounds with Kelly only to lose by UD. B-Hop wouldn't have taken all those power punches near as well as Kelly did...and you know I'm right.

Very possible, if Abraham languishes on the ropes (he almost payed for it in the second round against Miranda last Saturday, he needs to cut that out).

Pavlik has never dealt with anything close to Abraham's combination of power, speed, and timing. He is going to get hit flush during multiple points of the fight.. there's no question about it. The question is if he'll survive or not.

Pavlik couldn't even show impressive defense against slow Gary Lockett, don't let the HBO crew fool you.

    1. Abrahams punches are not slow. Just have a look at the last fight between Abraham and Miranda: Everybody thought a haymaker was responsible for Miranda going down for the 1st time, but it was a hard right. The haymakers are used to end the fight if AA knows his opponent is already in big trouble.

    2. Pavlik's punching power cannot be compared to that of AA. Pav wins with his combinations which are very accurate, very precise. AA can win a fight by one single punch at any time. He has tremendous punching power in both of his hands.

    3. AA has a perfect turtle shell defense and a very robust body.

    4. AA is a strategic and very intelligent fighter

The points above don't mean that Pavlik has no chance against AA, but he really has to fight strategic. If Pav tries to slug with AA, he will loose hands down. If he uses his reach to hit AA with jabs and doesn't go to the infight he might have a good chance to win by decision. Personally, I think that one of AA's bombs will land on Pavlik soon or later and even if he can take strong punches, I doubt he can take those of AA. You can't compare AA with Miranda or Taylor regarding his punching power.
