The fallacy of the thread starters logic lies in assuming Pavlik is done and/or has no future. Here's a short history lesson.

In 1974 Alexis Arguello was not much more than a skinny slugger with 3 losses. He failed miserably in his first attempt to win a world title. Alexis went on to dominate 3 division, and is universally recognized as an all time great, and one of the very best boxer/punchers in history.

Danny "Little Red" Lopez lost his first featherweight title eliminator to Bobby Chacon. It wasn't just "a loss." It was a brutal, one-sided, ass whoopin'. Danny then lost two "tune-up" fights to no-hopers. A short time later Little Red captured the featherweight crown, and ruled the divison for nearly 4 years. Today he is a member of The California Boxing Hall of Fame, The World Boxing Hall of Fame, and the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Marvin Haglar had two losses before he ever sniffed a world title. In his first title fight he threw the fight away in the championship rounds, and ended up with a draw against the rather forgettable Vito Antuefermo. Today most fight fans recognize Marvin has a top 5 all time great middleweight.

Between 2002 and 2004 Shane Mosely's record was 1 win, 4 losses, 1 no contest. Today Shane is a top 3 welterweight, and this coming Saturday he will participate in one of the biggest fights in recent memory. Win, lose, or draw, Shane is no doubt headed for the IBHOF.

I think the historical information above proves that "it ain't over 'til it's over," and Pavlik says it ain't over.
