Maybe "the ghost" will hover above AA after the king has given him a proper beating, but not much more. Hopkins was Pav's executioner, AA will be his exorcist.
On March 14th, 2009 Arthur Abraham will face LuJaun Simon in a voluntary title defense. Simon's last opponent was Jose Spearman, so let me give a few details. After McKart was off for nearly 2 years, he decided to continue fighting, but could no longer make 154. He needed a tune-up at 160. Fighting above his best weight, and after a long lay off, Bronco boxed Spearman's ears off even though Spearman weighed in at the SMW limit. Spearman has been KOed 8 times! Saureland has had since last November to find an opponent for Arthur. They chose a guy who has been living off Bronco McKart's left overs. Yep, sounds like AA really wants a shot at the champatsch
Well, it is slim pickings at 160, but I am getting the impression that Saurland doesn't want to chance anything before a Pavlik fight.
Take a look at Pav's resume in the 2 years preceding his first fight with Taylor, and then take a look at Arthur's resume' over the past 2 years. Since when do you get a shot at the champ without taking risks?
Arum and Sauerland should play russian roulette.Winndre gets to promote Pavlik vs Abrham and bury the loser.
"The biggest fight is financial and the best fight is ... what boxing people would regard as the best fight." :good
Outside of Pavlik and Sturm, neither of whom's camps seem that eager to make the fights, there is nobody else. Winner of Winky-Williams, perhaps? Something tells me the winner of that fight is going to be the guy lined up for Pavlik's next "big" fight, not Arthur. This fight makes far too much sense to not happen, but sad to say, it's looking more and more like a game of liar's poker where the only losers will be the fans. There's other fights Team Pavlik can take, all the while Abraham, not having those options, becomes more and more likely to move up to 168 where there's bigger fights available than what he'd be able to land at 160 if the Pavlik fight doesn't go through. All this is based off of no concrete information, mind you, just my gut feelings on it.
I agree with you that Winky and Paul are very good fighters... But nevertheless AA is the longest reigning MW Champ and he is also on 7-8 KO winning streak.. This is by far enough to be Kellys next legit opponent.. Paul (after the Winky fight with 2 fights at MW) and Winky ( very long inactivity) must place themselves into the line BEHIND AA...
You keep forcing me to beat the same old drum. At the time that AA fought a voluntary against Elvin Ayala, Fulgencio Zuniga was the rightful mandatory. However, with the singular exception of Edison Miranda, Saureland has managed to stear Arthur clear of anyone who can crack. Winky wanted Arthur, but Sauerland offered him about half of the amount he had already turned down for a Pavlik fight. Gee, I wonder why they would low ball Winky Wright? It could be because, other than Eastman, Sauerland has kept Arthur away from any one who accomplished more than ****-all in boxing. It's not just this one time that Sauerland has put Abraham in with some guy off the "C" list. It's a long standing habit.
and Hopkins exposed Pavlik as the one dimensional limited fighter that he is, those were the better days.
