What's exciting about Pavlik though, is that he just might fight the toughest available opponent, say, 80% of the time. He has the right attitude to become a modern day great - now let's see if he's got everything else neccessary.
Good post. I'm personally starting to get a little worried about Arum though. Lockett and then Rubio, which I know both are mandatories that once cleared out of the way would allow big fights options without worrying about losing one of his belts, but still. I just don't know if it feels like Arum is ready to go for glory.
We know damn well he's not on the ATG skill and ability level, for certain. The elite MW's of the early 90's would have smashed him in 5, all of them.
You feel comparisons with Monzon are far fetched? He does have nice size...I know the chin concerns you but I think you overstate. He's no Toney, that's for sure, but there is more than one way to skin a cat.
"Tis opinion. No way to prove or disprove, so no need arguing it. But you sound big and knowledgable saying it.:yep Way too early in Pavlik's career to even think of ATG type stuff.....yet.
Comparisons with Monzon are ******ed, not just far fetched. The guy has shown nothing on that level. If anything, Kessler comparisons with Monzon are more accurate, though I wouldn't condone that either. Kessler is a guy who dominates less than elite opponents, Pavlik struggles with them, it's far fetched to compare Kessler to Monzon, it's ****ing ******ed to compare Pavlik to Monzon. Whoever compared them knows ****all about boxing and/or is an American nuthugger.
All the proof you need that he's not on par with those guys are his two bouts with Jermain Taylor, one of the worst and most flawed MW champs in recent times who had his own struggles with non-elite LMW's. If Pavlik were destined for ATG status, he'd have bulldozed through Taylor with ease, winning almost every round and crushing him twice with most questions answered.
I like more the American nuthugger, than the piece of**** like you who just fantasm over the great boxer of each category:hi: or I like more the home-base boxer nuthugger
Soooo your saying that Pavlik blows out Monzon in under 6 rounds then, right? I think he KO's Hagler within 3
No. He needs more names, more contenders. Pavlik has beaten McKart, Miranda and Taylor (twice). A win over Calzaghe and Abraham would help and lot but he would not be an ATG. Cotto has beaten approx. eleven Top10 contenders and he's far from being an all time great. Mayweather has beaten like 20 and some people (few) still don't consider him an ATG.
