Hopkins’ trainer, Freddie Roach, said a few months ago that he thinks Hopkins should retire. But the self-proclaimed “fitness fanatic” said people should ignore his age and focus on his ability.
“A lot of people are concerned about me,” said Hopkins. “I will be OK. I’m not a fool. I’m a thinker. I’m a guy who likes to take big challenges.
“I will beat [Pavlik] impressively and show the world Bernard Hopkins is a great champion.”

:patsch :patsch Hmm. I kinda feel bad watching a young pavlik beat up an old man saturday. Its just not right.:D

You'll feel better when the old man makes the young man look like a rank novice then.

I believe this is the fight that will see age catch up with Bernard Hopkins in a big way. I pick Pavlik by KO inside of 6.

Before the Calzaghe fight, there were those people who were thinking B-Hop could beat him. And now, the same people are saying that he can beat Pavlik??? This is becoming funny.

Shame on Hopkins for getting beat into retirement. Same goes for Shane if he fights Margarito. Never thought these nightmares could come true but it happens to every generation.

Zaragosa was 40 and Morales was 21, on and on and on.

I picked JC for that fight anyway if you are so sure Pavlik wins why don't you withdraw your whole bank account and stick it on Pavlik at the bookies, surely free money?

You act like he can't lose or some ****.

Bernard Hopkins needs to improve from his last fight, if he does not.

    He is a dead man..

Pavlik won't be schooled by Hopkins. The old man will use all the tricks he knows, but at the end, Pavlik will prevail. Pavlik is an extraordinay finisher. Hopkins is better not to open the door. A few years ago, Bernard would have schooled Pavlik. He doesn't have the energy anymore to do that nor the power to afraid Pavlik. Hopkins will just try to survive, to slow down the action. You cannot win a fight like this. Will the fight be boring? If not, that's a ko for Pavlik.

I heard Larry Merchant saying that if he was still announcing instead of Max he would announce Bernard as the walking dead when he made his ring entrance.

Hopkins made Joe look amateurish early on....and then his legs gave out and he stopped moving around the ring. Rewatch that fight, Hopkins was boxing beautifully early (for a round or two actually), it was really impressive. But he couldn't keep it up and he resorted to waiting, falling in with one punch and then holding.

You've got this upside down Kiltschko hater.

I never said he can't lose. I said Hopkins can't win. There is the possibility of a lucky shot but if Taylor couldn't floor him after that 2nd round during the first fight, I doubt Hopkins has it in him to do better.

Rewatch JC-B-Hop and tell me how many punches B-Hop threw. He isn't NEARLY busy enough to beat a Pavlik. Pavlik is busy and aggressive.

Lots of folks look good against calzaghe for a few rounds and still lose (he is a slow starter).
I think Pavlik is in for a suprise because b-hop is still a wiley sob and I think he can out manouvre and frustrate him in the early rounds. Mid to late we will see whats left. If pavlik catches him in these rounds he could be in big trouble.
I am unsure about Pav's camp contiunally stating they are going to knock hopkins out. Hopkins will make it hard for pavlik to hit him with anything never mind clear shots for a ko.
I hope hopkins dont age on the night and puts in another wiley performance.
