Just Kidding, he always loses to BHOP .... I was sad to see it happen, but thats boxing... I actually figured thats would happen... I really don't think his corner helps him at all, I have seen like 4 fights where Lowe just screams throw that double jab !!!! Everytime pavlik through a jab vs BHOP he got immediately countered by short right hands or overhand rights... I am not saying a better trainer would have made a difference in the bhop fight, but I think Pavlik can't reach his full potential, even at 160, with Lowe in the corner and those other hillbillies. I still don't see anyone at 160 that can beat Pavlik.
Abraham is highly dangerous at 160. If I were his management team I would try to get a match with Duddy as his first comeback fight since the loss as it would be easy against a relatively big name opponent, and after that take on Rubio. Then go for the showdown with Abraham.
:good yep. you can't blame everything on a corner. kelly needs to improvise in the future and find ways to win in more ways than one. some victories might recquire him to abandon crowd pleasing ko's in order to win. i don't think he should make a 180 on his style, but just add to his arsenal, like cotto adding his jab to his body attack later in his career and mab boxing more instead of slugging it out when he needed to. if anything from his fight with B-hop i think it did expose him as one dimensional, but maybe his straight-forward style might be great for a guy like duddy or abraham, but might not be affective with a winky.
It was obvious during the fight that Hopkins corner was vastly superior in every way... Not only in the advice they gave in the corner... They studied Pavlik, figured him out, made a game plan, and trained to execute... That's what great trainers do,,, What was Dad's fight plan?,,, what was plan B and C... "throw the double jab?"... He should have spent less time hitting tires with sledge hammers, and a little more time learning how to deal with lateral movement. Stewart seems to do pretty good with lanky guys... could he help Kelly?
Bad style matchup for Pavlik...I never liked the fight from the time it was signed...I always thought and even mentioned here that Hopkins along with Wright were two fighters that Pavlik's people should not fight. Kelly isnt a busy fighter and to beat Hopkins you have to either outwork him like Taylor and Calzage did somewhat, or just be better like Jones.
