Pavlik is a great guy, I hope he does realy well in his boxing carrier. But Joe would shut him down badly. If he fought Pavlik he would get stick about fighting people who were lighter.
Wow! I cant believe how overrated Calzaghe is on this board. I think hes a great boxer but to say Pavlik gets dominated is plain ludacris.
LOL to people saying Pavliks chin isn't that great. Too many people downgrade his chin when really his defense is poor. Pavlik has an iron chin people, and if you can't see that then you are blind. BTW JC beats him 118-110
My points: if there is a bad fight for Pavlik, it is Calzaghe. Of course I'd agree that this fight would be HUGE and VERY ENTERTAINING, probably the most entertaining one-sided fight in years. -Calzaghe's jab controls the fight in all 12 rounds, great stamina, doesn't get tired -punch output is huge, Joe's pretty good at moving forward with his jab and BRUTALLY DOMINANT with his counter shots -Pavlik jab won't work, good but slower than Joe's. His shots are both slower (not by much) and predictable (very). -Joe's NEVER had any problems with predictable fighters, he had the troubles with the unpredictable ones (which meant a not-that-wide UD against Bika or Salem but no troubles at all) -Joe's movement and tricky southpaw style is very confusing, Joe easily breaks his opponent's rhythm -Pavlik is a huge MW but Calzaghe is a big SMW. Both having weight problems so you can't say that Pavlik would be stronger than Joe physically because he won't -Joe never lets you rest. NEVER. Always on your a** no matter if you are going backward or forward, landing or taking punches, no matter what. That is the problem Hopkins' going to face as Joe moves in, out and side-to-side too quick to let BHop hold him and work well on the inside (that's why I predict a dominant Calzaghe win there) You know Joe's a pretty good starter, you can't just jump on him trying to finish (Lacy tried, Kessler was pretty good, Mitchell found himself on the canvas seconds after he dropped Joe) so I think in the first 3-4 round the fight would be exciting but one-sided from the first bell. From the 5th Joe would know everything about his opponent (his ring intelligence is his best weapon IMO, no one seems to recognize that) and would bring the fight to another level skill and speedwise (that's where the great Kessler lost his tracks). I see Joe hitting Pavlik so much in the head (with Pavlik bravely taking it as Lacy and giving back much more than Lacy) so Kelly would bring his guard higher. Now that's the time when the Dragon would land a few dozen huge and accurate "body slaps". I see Calzaghe stopping Pavlik in the 8th after brutally braking him down especially with body blows which has nothing to do with a good chin - everyone goes down taking huge shots there (DLH). It's either a clean body KO or a staggering body blow followed by a brutal assault and the referee jumping in. Kessler would be dominant too against The Ghost and Abraham too, but both of them are a little bit (not much) slower than Joe and much more passive as they are relying more on their (great) defensive skills and their accurate, carefully selected punches (not necessarily a good thing against the always throwing Pavlik). And still they would counter Pavlik's great attacks. I see a pretty hardly predictable fight against the brutally strong and very pure boxer Abraham and a much easier to predict fight against Kessler. I think both of them would beat Pavlik on points though.
Zetuche put him down, so did Taylor and another time by a guy who I forget. His chin is not Iron. If it was a pretty light hitter in Taylor would not have put him on ***** street.
I am a big fan of both Pavlik and Cazaghe and I feel they both get underrated quite often. That said, I belive that Pavlik would be competitive, but lose clearly against Joe. Reasons: Pavlik has been far superior to his previous opponents in workrate, stamina and mental strength in excecuting his gameplan. In all of these areas, he has zero advantage over Joe. This leaves speed, boxing skills and power as the deciding factors. While Pavlik has sickening power and is a solid boxer, Joe's combination of speed and skills are out of this world. Only Reid and Kesser ever looked like they could perhaps win during a Calzaghe fight and Joe turned both of these fights around. His feinting and slickness is way underrated. Just watch how he dodges punches on the inside against Lacy, except Mayweather no other current boxer can use body movement to evade punches like that. Pavlik will probably never be beaten easily and Joe might have to dig deep like he did against Kessler, but he will prevail. Except for a prime RJJ, I don't see anyone who could beat Joe at 168.
Didn't expect you to go for Pavlik in this one, boo. Don't you see the gap that exists between the two? Pavlik has almost no chance of winning. Kessler is a huge, strong SMW and Joe took his best punch multiple times. We know, since that fight, that he has a very solid chin. I don't see a path to victory for Pavlik -- there's Joe's southpaw stance which makes it easier for Kelly to land the right hand, but the same goes for Joe, who's more accurate, has an even better workrate and significantly faster hands. Pavlik doesn't have Kessler's defensive capabilities. He'll try walking Joe down behind a jab. I don't see that panning out well. It's overkill pointing to the Lacy fight, since Lacy walked in without a jab, but there are still some similarities. When I see the fight in my mind, I see Joe taking a step back, then stepping in with combinations that will land in scores and confuse Kelly. It's not a mismatch, but I don't think Pavlik should want this fight. He rates to lose badly.
Your right mate..However Joe huggers will ignore this...The same thing is going on with Dawson avoiding Diaconu...It's called where I'm from as being a big fat *****....It's like a kid picking on the younger smaller kid...same thing goes for old men...****ing disgraceatsch
:good Powder-Puff Joe would get "Pavliked". We will see after the Taylor demolition how many fighters will step up to test the ghost. Quietly, they fear him...and they do have their eyes on him.
I'm sure Joe would gladly take the fight after Hopkins. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
Yea your right mate Joe would last 9 rounds instead of 7 like Miranda and Taylor...Still Joe recieves the beatdown of his life...Pavlik will throw and land as many punches as Joe will slaps..Kelly would CLOWN Joe and still beat him..
Boxing produces some funny fans. If a actor is from a foreign country and is good at his job, he is just a good actor. If a Baseball star is say from Japan, and has real quality he is just that, a quality baseball player. If the undisputed SMW champ is from a small town in Wales, he's not a top quality Boxer from abroad, he's PUSSSSSSSSSSSSSY piece of s**t motherf*&^er who gonna be whipped dawg!!!!!!! Kelly from what ive seen is a tasty geezer with a nice punch and a bit of class about him. He isnt a punk yankee or by that token Marvin Hagler. Fact is Joe is a terrific fighter who many top rate guys didnt fancy the odds or the fallout from a defeat a la Mr Hopkins. Does that make Bernie a *****, just a fella who dodged a very possible defeat. Perspective gentlemen, perspective.
God your a dumbass, when the hell was a pavlik vs calzaghe fight ever on ? When ? So to say he ducked him is plain ignorant. Both Kessler and Calzaghe would destroy Pavlik. Both are better boxers, both have a better job, both move a lot better, both have better chins.
