Pavlik being counted out ?

Arthur and Sauerland wanted him for years, the fans wanted it but Arum robbed us all of that fight, and Pavlik is content not fighting the king.

It was a good move by Arum and Pavliks team, he would've been laid out cold, something I just don't see Williams doing.. but Williams may very well UD him.

 

If the money was there the fight would have happened. Period. Believe what you want.

 

Everyone wanted to see the fight, Arthur offered to fight in the US.

Arum is to blame.

 

Pavlik's lack of versatility and over reliance on the double jab-straight right hand concern me. William's is at the top of his game and I believe he can take a middleweight punch...after all, he went the distance with Margarito who most likely was using loaded gloves at the time. If it goes the distance, I give it to Williams UD....if the fight ends in TKO or KO....it will be Pavlik who raises his hand in victory.

 

Pavlik was over-hyped before Hopkins then written off far too early after the loss, as tends to happen when people look silly after bigging him up for so long. Williams is unproven at middleweight, he aint fighting guys at 5'9 any more. I'd say this is a highly competitive fight, and despite the technical superiority of Williams i'd have Pavik as slight favorite since he's proven at the weight. Taylor was a tricky customer, bigger than Williams, and Pavlik handled him twice.

 

Williams by decision, Pavlik is big and strong but nothing special. I am not saying he is not a good fighter, he is, but Williams I believe is something special.

 

Pavlik looks great when he's fighting guys who are smaller than him or guys he can simply out-tough. He looks worse when the guy can move and, as was clear against Hopkins, they're that bit slicker.

Williams presents problems with his workrate and reach (same as a Klitschko's I believe) - his handspeed will give Pavlik fits early on, but Paul isn't a cute fighter - he's generally in front of you, with only a small amount of lateral movement. Pavlik can catch him backing off and take the wind from his sails.

This will be a tough fight and Williams isn't a proven entity at MW - I can see either a close points win for Paul or a TKO win for Pavlik in the late rounds.

 

I agree...I think pav will be favored and he def is not being counted out...pw is the minority pick in here...but I think he will win as well in a good fight

 

That means we have ourselves one hell of a Middle Weight fight comin' up!

Arguements could go back and forth all damn day (or for almost a year in this case), but that is the bottom line.:deal

 

Anyone that writes off Pavlik is a fool. A guy with his physical tools at MW can never be written off.

I have huge respect for Paul Williams. But he's moving up, and he definitely isn't B-Hop in terms of size or guile.

On the other hand, B-Hop doesn't have PW's workrate.

Should be a great fight and both guys have a good chance, IMO. A Williams 8-4 win wouldn't shock me, but neither would a Pavlik KO 8. We'll just have to see.

 

It seems like a hard fight to pick. Pavlik has been outslicked but he hasn't been out slugged. I'm kind of surprised this fight got made. Both fighters could have found easier roads. I heard HBO put pressure on, and threw money at, both to make it happen.

 

this fight will be similar to margarito except that if kelly lands that 1,2 its good night

This is what the fight will come down to, I think. Whether or not KP will have the chance to sit down on a punch or two and tee off. If he does, Williams is toast. But he might not get that chance. Looking forward to watching!
