I agree, and that is 50 % chance against those three at the most. Perhaps slightly more against Taylor besed on styles, but that is it.

Look who's talking about careers being ruined.

The guy must have lost his head after the ass whopping from Hopkins. Let him focus on Sturm, Mora and Mayorga while those guys fight for "peanuts". Funny how he's talking about being a middleweight, only a while ago he was looking to make a statement and challenge Calzaghe at light heavy. :rofl

It is sad. Kelly needs to heal his wounds and accept that for whatever reason he is not in the super six. He should keepo his mouth closed until he calmes down, because he sounds like a bitter bitter guy.

I can see why with noone to fight, but there is nothing he can do about it now.

Pavlik is showing his true colors with his comments. He don't want to take risk to face the best fighters at 168 pounds so he wants to stay at middleweight to face Sturm and likely against Mora next. Pavlik is now looking for easy fights and won't go for a challenge.

Lol funny huh? Even though Showtime didn't invite Pavlik, Pavlik made it clear that if he was invited, he would turn it down. <<<<<Pavlik is a disgrace boxing fighter. He rather face the Sturms, Mora of the world.

I didnt get that at all, what I got was Kelly saying that they were stupid for taking that high risk for low money. I think that Kelly is erked that he was asked to do it. And for that I dont really blame him.

Seems the Hopkins debacle has taken away some of his confidence. It seems he still has nightmares about that fight...:verysad

Wow, Pavlik is a bum now. I can't believe his classless comments. Millions of people watch Showtime and millions of people want this to happen. Hopkins must have really damaged up Pavlik with that pounding he took.

Those fighters in the tournament are going to get more then 2 million dollars then Pavlik will be getting of fighting Sturm. And those fighters are fighting for legacy while Pavlik is fighting for money and looking for easy fights. He scared to take risk cause what happen to him in the Hopkins fight.

I'm not surprise hermit is still defending his hero Pavlik after reading Pavlik comments. Anybodyelse that is defending Pavlik are dummies. For Pavlik to say that those fighters are fighting for peanuts is a disgrace for his comments and he's way wrong. Those fighters that are in the tournament will be getting way more then 2 million dollars while Pavlik will be getting only 2 million fighting a weak champion feather fisted Sturm.

Pavlik still has a great resume compared to Mayweather above 135. End of story.

Kelly's got a lot of nerve to state that these guys are fighting for and ruining their careers for peanuts. Kelly's got the mentality of a businessman, not a fighter, a mentality he makes clear with comments of this type. Last time I checked there was no reward without risk and that's the mentality a fighter should have. When team Pavlik remained silent about a bout with Abraham and Arum and Top Rank openly stated that the fight made no sense because Arthur wasn't a name in the states..that, especially after the Hopkins debacle, helped to cool Pavlik's career, not to mention more recent and obvious misma...er I mean bouts. Who's ruining who's career here? I guarantee that regardless of what network this tournament airs on it's going to draw huge numbers as well as interest. Those who perform well in this tournament are going to make a huge name for themselves.

As for his comment about all the big time fighters fighting on HBO, I find that a bit insulting as a fan of both networks. Personally I prefer the commentators and presentation HBO has but Showtime has some good personalities as well and there have been many times where that network has aird fights HBO made the mistake of passing on. If Kelly keeps fighting nobodies and obvious mismatches he'll be lucky to land a date on Showtime in a few years time.

"Although Pavlik has been out of the spotlight in recent months, he still considers himself one of the five biggest names in boxing." Pavliks name is indeed one of the biggest in boxing but his inactivity coupled with fights he could have won with his hands tied behind his back have more people talking about how he avoids certain fighters than they do about how great or popular he is. No sir, these days when Pavlik's name is mentioned in boxing circles it's all about "where the hell did that guy go", "yea that guy is ducking Abraham, Hopkins gave that guy a beating", and "Pavlik's overrated". Kelly's near silence on the majority of these things only further server to slow down and cool what was once a hot name in the sport. In boxing you're only as good or as big as your last fight. The Rubio fight was a joke the decision to fight Mora was insulting and reaffirmed for many that Kelly was ducking Arthur plain and simple.

"Pavlik said he’s content to stay at 160 pounds for a few years before moving up in weight to fight the winner of the Showtime tournament."

“Whoever the winner is,” he said, “I’ll kick his [butt].”

My question for Kelly is who the hell do you plan to fight at Middleweight that's going to generate buzz and public as well as network attention? I'd like to see Kelly knock the hell out of Sturm but I consider that a mismatch as well, in favor of Pavlik. There's a few names out there and a few contenders that might look good on paper but in truth the one guy everyone wanted to see Kelly fight has moved up in weight because he got tired of waiting and took a fantastic opportunity. Kelly clearly shows his priorities are business first, ass kicking second in the quotes at the top of this post. He also states that he believes he's one of the biggest names in boxing, to which I would say, the name of Kelly Pavlik reverberates in boxing circles today only because of the recent debacles surrounding his career. Kelly can only ride on the knockouts of Miranda and Taylor for so long and by staying at Middleweight his name is going to grow colder and colder because there just aren't many interesting or dangerous fights for him at that weight. If Kelly was a good businessman he'd move up in weight and start making a name for himself at Super Middleweight. Perhaps he's interested only in fights he knows he can win with his hands tied behind his back????

Secondly, “Whoever the winner is,” he said, “I’ll kick his [butt].” What if that winner is Abraham? I for one am a firm believer in that Pavlik and/or his people made every excuse in the book to avoid Arthur. If Arthur bests the other 5 fighters that's going to say a lot about him given the enormous talent in that tournament which will only force Pavlik and/or his team to conjure up new excuses not to fight him or simply use the "no one knows who he is" excuse once more. Kelly's more than capable of beating Taylor again, and I can see him giving Froch real trouble but I don't see him beating either Mikkel or Arthur, nor do I see him and his team wanting to fight them.

I started following Pavlik a few fights before the Miranda fight and became a huge fan after he knocked him out. The Hopkins loss did nothing to diminish my opinion of Kelly but everything that's transpired since then has made me lose a lot of respect for the guy. A fight with Arthur could have and should have been made but in ducking him Kelly's desire to be a business person first and a fighter second really turned me off to him. His silence or avoidance of the claims he's ducked Abraham, is an alcoholic, is having personal problems, and all the other things being said about him, as well as his absence from the ring really speak volumes about Kelly and his team. I hope that the man is healthy and has no such problems but it's time to speak out to the fans loudly, honestly and clearly. Silence speaks louder than words Kelly.

As for the tournament, I question whether or not Kelly would have participated had he been invited, which i think he should have been. If money or potentially ruining his career are his best excuses than I have zero respect left for a fighter I once held in high esteem and enjoyed watching. The names in the tournament alone mean the winner is going to be seen as a great fighter, especially if they win convincingly and by knock out. Ruining his career by participating in the tournament? Only a fighter whose afraid of losing would say that. Sure there's great risk but there's also great reward. That division is so talented I can't see anything but great things for the winner and fighters who perform well in the tournament. I think Kelly has the potential to beat all of the fighters in the tournament though I would pick both Mikkel and Aurther to beat him and I think those two names are what would have kept him out of the tournament had he been invited.

    What's happened to Pavlik?
