whether he would or would not have beaten or even have been competitive against joe is not the point when i say the lockett fight was part of the whole pav/calzaghe thing...

    rubio was a mandatory...

and he has fought numerous times over the mw limit and lost once to top 5 p4p fighter at 170

having said that...he's kinda out in the cold at the moment w/ the state of the mw division and the tourney happening but he can still make some good fights if he and arum are willing to not make huge amounts of money for a while and just consider it an investment in the future

A question for ''Booradley & Hermit''...

Do you guys happen to know who Pavlik will most likely be fighting in the next 12-18 months ? How much money is he expecting to make per fight ? Does HBO guarantee a minimum $$$ ?

I think the problem is less Pavlik and more Arum...:-(

  5. Very dissapointed....... he may think nobody watches Showtime, but I'm sure ALOT of ppl watch Sky Sports, Viasat, RTL etc.... this is a worldwide tourney and I'm pretty sure guys like AA and Kessler are not going to fight for peunuts when they can fill stadiums and large arenas where as Pavlik is will be lucky to fill anywhere other than a small arena in Ohio

Kelly never wanted the Abraham fight, and his team only waited till Sauerland started speaking publicly about his weight issues. Abraham has shown that he means business, stepping up into a new division and entering this tournament.

It is funny that Pavlik talks about them not getting paid. Abraham, Froch and Kessler will all be getting hefty license fees from British, Danish and German television, Kessler and Abraham will be making more money than Kelly has ever seen.

The top two guys in this tourney will have greatly added to their legacy, and substantially added to their bank account as well (since that seems Kelly's concern), meanwhile rumor is that Pavlik is in talks with Sergio Martinez, his second junior middle in a row.

As for Sturm, he shamelessly ducked Arthur and just got a gift over someone Abraham decapitated.

    From http://www.vindy.com/news/2009/jul/14/pavlik-wants-to-fight-on-hbo/?pavlik

?Why would I be in that tournament when I?m a middleweight??*Pavlik said. ?They never asked me and I never wanted to join. Let them beat each other up. Let them ruin their careers for peanuts." "Those guys are fighting for peanuts. They?re going to burn their whole career and for what? Nobody watches Showtime. Trust me, when the winner of that tournament fights his next fight, it?ll be on HBO. I like HBO. I will fight for HBO. All the big-time fighters like Floyd Mayweather, [Manny] Pacquiao, [Miguel] Cotto, Shane Mosley, the Klitschkos ? they all fight on HBO.?Whoever ends up being the tournament winner, Pavlik told Scalzo that he would be more than happy to move up to fight them.?Whoever the winner is,?*Pavlik said, ?I?ll kick his [butt].?

Wow, that was a pretty graceful way of saying 'I got passed over and I'm really pissed about it'. Not. Sounds like a douche.

Im starting to hate Pavlik now. What made him so likable was the fact that he was humble but now that he is a ***** everybody is starting to turn on him and he is losing a lot of fans
