Pavlik blasts SM tournament

pavliks sounds like a scorned woman. hes probably annoyed because arums using him as a cash cow for ohio while pavlik seems to have heart and wants big fights. bob after seeing him lose his aura against hopkins doesnt trust him not to lose



on this tournament, its essential one of the young yanks steps up with some big performances imo. it needs high profile fights with americans in america

What did you expect?

I am a Pavlik fan, but his comments about the tourney about it being too dangerous and ruining their carreers is never going to be crowd pleasing to boxing fans. We want to see exactly that - the best getting it on against eachother in highly risky fights.

Sure, I feel with Kelly now that he is left without any interesting options to fight. But hey - bitching about it will not win him any fans.

Well Pavlik said if he was invited, he would turn it down cause fighting Tournament for "penut penny" is not worth it. Pavlk saying this tournament would ruined fighters career? lol. Talk about a guy who talks like a 10 year old that needs to grow up.

 

But apart from those that don't like Pavlik and used those comments as an excuse to bash him, you've seen a lot more bashing from guys that actually like Kelly in this thread.

I like Pavlik and I'm not going to suddenly bash him for losing to Hopkins, accuse him for not taking the Abraham fight (like he's the only one to blame for that fight not happening), or talk **** about him cause he sounded frustrated and bitter in the interviews after the Hopkins fight.

But this tournament is great for boxing and you just can't start ranting about peanuts, Showtime, HBO and paydays, trying to make the tourney sound unimportant, just cause you don't participate in it. Kelly needs to stop commenting on other fighters and boxing events, and work harder, to raise his level, give the fans interesting fights, and prove he doesn't deserve the bashing that came after his first and only loss.

First -- that's a great avatar.
Second -- very fair and balanced post. Personally I think that if KP wants to stay at 160, and be remembered as a great middleweight champion, he needs to forget about chasing money and super-fights. He just needs to say "**** it" and spend 12 - 18 months clearing the deck. There is not one fighter in the top 10 at 160 that can go 12 rounds with KP, and let's face it, Pavlik built his reputation by leaving guys slumped on the canvass, not by fighting in "super-fights." I truly beleive that if he would just settle his ass down, and clear out the division of every possible challenger, the money and star-power would just happen natuarally.

But not now? AA is gone to the tournament, and he was obviously the #1 Contender. Opinions are split on PW at MW so far, but I say hed be a pretty live opponent to say the least, but other than him? No way, KP toasts their asses.:deal
