Kelly too me seems like a guy frustrated at how his career is being handled nothing more. I agree he could have gone about it in a different way but it is what it is.
At least Kelly is safe in the knowledge that because he never fought Calzaghe... you know, he might actually have done ok... he can take solace from being a coward.
I am very disappointed in Kelly. I was a fan, but if he is really pissing on the best thing to happen in boxing for decades, then I am just no longer a Pavlik fan. He just has to accept that the train has gone. Keep in the loop for the next couple of years - perhaps fight the two-three other potential fighters who were left out - Bute, Andrade and Balzay - and hope for the best.
and how much will Kelly now make and to fight whom? ****ing Sturm, Mundine? those type of **** fights wont generate much. Who exactly is Kelly going to face to make Millions? He is a dumb ass.
This video was sad to watch. Reminded me of how exciting he was coming up. He always seemed like a humble guy who was here for the fans and took his career in boxing seriously. The guy who showed up for the interview is the complete opposite. It almost seems like he is doing the complete opposite of what Hopkins told him. Hop taught him a lesson, showed kelly that with his style he has, he is going to run into some one like him eventually and needs to come up with a plan B. Insted of taking his advice and making the better for him self, he instead said he was just sick, Hopkins wasn't crafty, and now all he cares about is how much money he's gonna get. It's painful to see him like this.
Pavlik DID NOT say he was sick. Thoms Hauser reported on it, and he based part of his report on beiing an eye witness on fight night, and actual medical records. I know for a ****ing fact that you already knew that!
I like HBO, he said. I will fight for HBO. All the big-time fighters like Floyd Mayweather, [Manny] Pacquiao, [Miguel] Cotto, Shane Mosley, the Klitschkos they all fight on HBO. A good manager and promoter can make a big difference. But then again I think KP is not in the same league as those guys when it comes to bringing in the fans to watch the fight.
Who the **** is he going to be fighting on HBO? Sturm at very best. Great for lining his pockets, not for the fans especially. Which is basically how the whole interview sounded, money orientated. Then on the other hand to criticize something great that is happening to boxing just because its on Showtime, and you know..the boxers might actually hurt each other..kinda lame. That's boxing against top fighters, Kelly!
I wonder if Kelly is having a small melt-down. I've read quite a bit of stuff that seems to indicate the booze problems are real and now this. Hope he gets it together...boxing needs him.
