Personally I believe Pavlik is more dangerous than Kessler for Bute. Pavlik got a great right hand down the pipe , a punch who might land agaisnt Bute , he also got greay power. I keep remembering Zuniga's post fight interview after he got run down in 4 by Lucian... he said Pavlik hit's harder but Bute is harder to hit.
Pavlik is gettin murdered if this fight happens, I can't think of any other outcome than a TKO loss. As I was watching Pavlik-Martinez I couldn't help but think that if it had been Bute landing the punches that Martinez landed Kelly would be seriously ****ed and now it looks as though its gonna happen in november
Good fight, would prefer Bute-Kessler but this is good too. I've got Bute due to him being better than Pavlik and all that. But Arum's right, if Pavlik loses and looks alright, he's still in it. Bounceback fight against Abraham for him then. Pavlik will always make money.
atm, i feel Pavlik is the answer for Bute, as legitimate fill-in/fluffer fight till the S6 champion.... I didnt believe and still dont believe his camp would allow him to fight Kessler before the S6 champion fight. Reasons - Kessler is still plenty dangerous and was just in the S6 tournament, but failed to make it to the final. A win for Kessler undermines any notions of Bute being a legitimate match-up vs the S6 winner. Bute's camp definitely wants to preserve his ZERO for the S6 champion, which most likely will be Andre Ward. The fact that someone's ZERO must go is a big selling and marketing point. Pavlik really has no business going to SMW - his only interest is the paydays. His power is not translating up a weight class. I think this is a safe but valid fight for Bute.
This should be the end of Pavlik as arelevant fighter if it goes ahead IMHO Bute will anihialate him :deal
I'm still sad that Bute-Kessler could not happen. I would have liked Johnson also but Pavlik is definitely the best choice for the US market. In my opinion, Interbox should go to Atlantic city, even if it pays less. It would be a long term investment to prove that Bute is willing to travel when it's possible.
I really would've liked one more fight against a top 20 SMW to give Kelly one more chance to sharpen things up (particularly his timing) and one more camp to get used to fighting at the weight. I don't think jumping straight to Lucian Bute is the right move here. But I'm not gonna lie, I'm certainly going to tune in if it happens. :deal Kelly's going to need a perfect camp- not just to finish shaking the rust off, but to improve upon what he's been the last few years- in order to win this one. I hope he's got it in him, because this will be one hell of a fight if he's ready. :thumbsup
Sadly, even if Pavlik is as washed up as his last performance suggests he'll still be Bute's toughest opponent to date so it would be a proper pick 'em fight.
Sounds like Jack wants one but Arum doesn't so we don't know. This sounds like a tough call. Kelly could use a good step up from his last opponent but I don't see how he can do that in August and be ready for Bute in November. Kelly and Jack have a fight promotion event first of July. I just don't see Kelly back in the ring till mid September.
Kelly, would be competitive, but he would lose on points, and if somebody was going to knock him out it would be Lucian.
