Arum saying he doesn't want Pavlik to have an easy tune up this summer before that fight makes me think he's doesn't really have Kelly's best interest at heart anymore, or rather doesn't feel like managing his career the way a promoter normally would.

It's one thing to put your man in a big fight right now, but why not allow him to warm up after all he's been through ?

The real positive here is that TOP RANK and INTERBOX have a top notch relationship and negociations will be easy. :good

Pavlik looked shot to bits in his last fight.

At least Pavlik has the guts, Kessler is a joke.

Bute by UD or late stoppage. Pavlik's only chance is to land a big punch and if this is in Canada then bet the house and kids on Bute.

Bute has more in common with Martinez than about 90% of other fighters. Yes, their money punches aren't the same, and Martinez is a better mover than Bute, and Bute is bigger and stronger than Martinez, but they're both guys who could accurately be described as southpaw cuties who sit on their punches.

KP has generally struggled against guys with decent movement. Bute's movement isn't as good as Hopkins' or Martinez's, but it's still better than, say, Jermain Taylor's. And he's still a southpaw.

I'm not counting out Pavlik by any stretch, but he's still not the greatest style matchup out there for Pavlik. IMO, he'd be much better served waiting and trying to set up a fight with Kessler (assuming he beats Stieglitz) or Froch, either of whom is there to be hit much more readily than Bute. A Bute matchup makes sense if Arum doesn't think he can make fights against those two or Abraham (who is probably off the table at this point). While Bute is a bad style matchup, he's probably still a better one than Ward or Dirrell.

I also still think Pavlik might be better served moving straight up to 175. Guys like Jean Pascal, Tavoris Cloud and Beibut Shumenov all are much more ripe for the picking by Pavlik than most of the top dogs at 168.

Does Pavlik have the power at 168 to keep Bute down for the full 11 count?

This will be the end for Pavlik. And Honestly, for Bute, this is a **** fight considering the division he is in.

Bute has never faced anyone on Pavlik's level.
Pavlik is on the lower tier of elites. This is a realm unknown to Bute who has only faced B lower B level opposition. There is no doubt that this would be the largest fight in Bute's career, but a step down for Pavlik.
