Look at what Audley Harrison has done in the amatuer compared to his pro career...Ray does have a point though! Just because you've had a decent amatuer career doesnt equate to a successful pro carerr and vice versa!

Being a tract of land left dry by receding water, myself, I'm mighty impressed that he's recovering at all from Gandalf shoving a staff through his palm.

With all of the **** you have talked about Pavlik, you had better run and hide if he-- and I think he'll have a better than decent shot of doing so-- starches your man Williams.

The Pavlik fans certainly won't forget.

In hindsight it's not that impressive.

But at the time he was the fastest rising star in the game who went threw the motions old school type.Only guys like Tim Bradley and another few do this now.
He fought Brewer when he was very green,McKart past his best yes but in contrast to Pavlik's greeness,Zertuche personally I think is a bit underrated and better than his record shows(he was robbed twice with Zuniga btw),he showed first signs of coming back from adversity surviving the KD against Zuniga who is a tough high volume puncher, and he fought a true title eliminator, forget the WBC thing, him and Miranda were the top 2 MW contenders for Taylor's title at the time and he beat him in an awesoem fight.
I picked Hopkins to beat him,he was out of his weight and more so out of his league.
Indeed what he is doing now with his best years is terrible.

Well as to answer your first question yes I started posting on ESB in July, but im hardly a newbie im positive that ive been around Boxing much longer than you.
No of course Amatuers is not like the Pros but its a place where 99% of the top fighters in the game learned their craft. Its the foundation for every one of the guys you mentioned,in fact everyone one of those guys you just mentioned were great amatuers.

Ok amatuers are not the same in the pros so in that sense Espino is a bum fighter in the pros correct?

In as much as you have voluntarily abandoned your senses? Someone pulls a partial from a source, I won't argue accuracy even though no attribute is linked, and we all buy that? Sure why not. It isn't like they are constantly adding new words and meaning to dictionaries anyhow since language is a living thing... right? :patsch

Yes i agree with you when you put it that way,but those fighters most likely wouldnt have been as succesful without learning their trade in the amatuers first.

The Amatuers as you say is a place where a fighter learn their craft. It's like an exitbition fights before going to the big dance in which is the pros. This is why in the amatuers fighters wear headgear.

Hes not a bum. Now hes not considered an elite guy in the sense that Williams and Pavlik are but he does have some good skills, but his power is average at best,i think thats the only flaw that will keep him from springing at an upset, and Team Pavlik knows this. But a BUM no way.

Its still Boxing and you are still trying to take the other dude out,you talk as if it were slap boxing. If you have ever boxed you would know this. Yes they wear headgear but those shots still hurt and if your not properly prepared you can still get Fu**ed up.
Headgear didnt become mandatory until the 80s,but in my opinion it only takes a little bit off the punches, not as much as you think.
