Sergio's fans are amazing. It seems like they will use almost any excuse to keep from backing this fight.

I've watched the first fight 10 or 12 times. One judge scored it 115-112, and AP scored it 115-112. Any score card wider than that should be thrown away. Based on a score of 115-112 the separation between Kelly Pavlik and Sergio Martinez is two rounds. The idea that Pavlik does not deserve a rematch this fall is absurd.

At the post fight presser after the first fight Martinez said, "He can have a rematch anytime he wants one." However, when KP ask for a rematch at 164 Martinez refused to discuss the matter, and called out aging welterweight Shane Mosely.

As of right now Pavlik has called Martinez out for a fight at 165-66 at least 3 times. Kelly is asking Martinez to do the ask same thing for him that he happily did for Jermain Taylor.

So now the only really question is, what does the phrase "Anytime he wants one," mean?

    come off it, homer

Agreed, Maravilla has looked amazing the last few fights, but he was clearly bigger than Dzinziruk and he torched P-Will with one punch but that type of KO is a bit flukey, though all credit to Sergio for landing it. To me it's almost a credit to Pavlik to be as out of it as he was and still dominate the middle rounds like he did. If/when Pavlik beats Lopez I'd love to see him take on Sergio again.

It's absurd how short they're selling Pavlik.

It wouldn't be for the middleweight crown, just like Pavlik/Taylor 2 wasn't.

If sergio is not comfortable at 165 then he shouldnt take the fight.. Why accomodate pavlik.. sergio could just defend his belt at his weight class.. He already beat pavlik soundly. IMO he has nothing to prove... Kelly could fight guys at 167.

Pavlik could've avoided this mess by not looking to fight a light-middleweight in the first place. I know it would be breaking the habit of a lifetime but he really needed someone his own speed to stand in front of him and let him tee off on.

115-112 is not "soundly", especially given Pavlik's condition. Why accomodate him? Because Sergio has no viable opponents, it would be his best possible win both monetarily and in terms of his legacy.

So because one judge agreed with you, the opinions of the two who had it wider shouldn't count?

He was happy to do it because he's contractually obligated. He could have required the same thing of Martinez and chose not to when dictating the terms.

It was also made quite clear at the press conference that any rematch would occur at middleweight.

Get over that score. It was 8 rounds to 4 with 1 extra point to Pavlik when Martinez was knocked off balance.

Do the math, Martinez won 2 thirds of the fight and in the final rounds started taking the **** out of Kelly. It wasn't close.

what makes you say he has a average chin? pretty much all of his KD's are more balance issues and he took a great shot from Williams in their first fight at around the end of round 4 and took it like a boss. plus he rolls with the punches really well.

And?? You would call Sergios chin great or very good? I didnt say its glass hence its average and yes he rolls with his punches and has good ring IQ. But no one can get away with that kind of defense and punching technique at this weight.

You can when you're so much quicker than your opponent. (see: the pavlik fight)
