Watching it live, I thought Cal was gonna take him out in either the 2nd or 3rd. (Don't remember exactly)

Hell yes, Cal was hitting away and Kessler was just lost in there.

That is exactly what Kessler is criticised for, being robotic and predictable. He does that **** as good as anyone. Now you are suggesting Pavlik follows the same strategy :nut

I've made my speed arguments enough. I stand by them.

Work rate? Joe may throw more, but lighter punches. That little drill he does where he claimed to throw a thousand punches per minute? He actually throws those pitty-pats during a match and it impresses his fans and judges. It won't impress Pavlik. He will pay a price with those against Pavlik. It will be up to the judges to decide who scored 'best' though.

I am not predicting a winner. Kelly is the home boy so I will root for him. I'm just trying to be as objective as I can here. I cannot claim to be unbiased. I just don't see speed and workrate as disadvantages for Kelly based on what he has done in the past.

His work rate and work ethic are second to NONE! Period. Let's see what Joe's work rate is against someone with a similar work rate. As stated above, Kelly loses 15 to 20 pounds for his fights by training and diet. The kid is just strong as hell, mentally and physically.

He has fought and sparred against faster than Joe. I see Joe's worst and best asset as the same. He seems to take a few rounds to let his opponent show his hand. This could be a mistake against Kelly. Once he starts HIS fight, he adapts well. Kelly admitted to sticking to a double jab too long against Taylor when it wasn't working and it was getting him tagged. I'm not sure Lowe was giving him the best advice in the corner against Taylor. He started telling Kelly early on that Taylor was gassing.

I don't think that was his only problem somehow...

I think the main problem was he didn't have the adaptability to change his gameplan when the 1-2 stopped working

It will be exactly the same for Pavlik, except more brutal because he will come forward rather than staying at range like Kessler, and his defence is more open :yep

Which is why you have not seen me predict a winner in this fight, just a favorite. I have stated what I feel are the strenghts and weaknesses for both.
