Pavlik-Calzaghe should still happen

    Pavlik beat Taylor, Taylor beat Hopkins, Hopkins beat Pavlik. (Just like RJJ beat Hopkins, Hopkins beat Tarver, Tarver beat RJJ).

    The point being, just because Hopkins owned Pavlik, it doesn't mean he can't fight Calzaghe. Factors such as tactics, clash of styles, general physical/mental form are central and make all the difference between fights.

    I think Pavlik Calzaghe would be more exciting than Hopkins-Calzaghe and RJJ-Calzaghe because Pavlik brings a different style and should be in good physical shape.

    Having said that, it's up to Pavlik to go and get the fight and Calaghe obviously doesn't have to take it, because he's beaten Hopkins and Pavlik just lost to him. But I think it would be a good fight.

    no the fight that should happen is Calzaghe-Hopkins II in Wales.

    calzaghe's style lets him nail pavlik with angles.

    ive said it before that pavlik is too one-Dimensional to take on fighters such as hopkins and calzaghe.

    it would be an absolute waste of time. dawson or retirement. i'm cool with either of those options.

    Pavlik vs Abraham is the fight that needs to happen. A 50/50 fight before Pavlik lost.

    Although this is true, there's no reason to think it would apply in this case.

    Those of us who have for some time expressed the view that Calzaghe would dominate Pavlik did so on the basis of the obvious flaws in Pavlik's technique, which were, funnily enough, the exact flaws exposed so explicitly in the Hopkins fight.

    The counter-arguments that were presented tended to be along the lines of 'Teh Pavlik is amazing, he walk through any opponents punches and destroy them'....

    They do and if they have any grasp of the sport they know that Calzaghes style is even worse for Pavlik than Hopkins' and that the fight would be a one sided thrashing.

    Calzaghe should either retire or if he has another fight then only a Hopkins rematch or Dawson should be considered.

    Agreed: Pavlik is like Kessler but:
    1. He is weaker.
    2. He is more 1-dimensional than Kessler.
    3. He is one weight class below Kessler.
    4. His technique is inferior.
    No this fight should not happen. Pavlik should fight Abraham. Calzaghe should do what he wants.
