Front page ESB news. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=16012&more=1 "It's Joe's decision, first of all," Warren said about a Pavlik fight. "There are a couple of good opponents out there for Joe. But, at the end of the day, Joe is the man, not [Roy] Jones or [Kelly] Pavlik. A fight with Pavlik would have to be made at super-middleweight, firstly. But it remains to be seen how good Pavlik can be. He does fight in straight lines, he's good at coming forward, but I want to see what happens when someone puts pressure on him." Warren claims it is up to Joe. Let's hope Joe doesn't go the senior circuit. I have said a few times now that I would lose respect for EITHER fighter for not making this one happen. So, it seems to be Joe's call to put up or shut up. If he repudiates his previous call outs of Pavlik now, he loses my respect.
He should fight Andrade Once Andrade gives Bute a scare, Pavlik should step up and take a "tune up" against Andrade. Then we'll see how good he really is, because Andrade won't stop coming. He hasn't faced anybody exactly like that, and we'll have a real idea about good he is at 168.
Has Andrade been calling Pavlik out like Calzaghe did the day after Pavlik won his title? Joe wasn't afraid to call out a middle weight when Joe was a SMW so certainly Joe isn't afraid of a middle weight now that his LH is he? Let's not start this crap we saw with Kessler/Miranda. Joe called Kelly out. Kelly honored his rematch clause with Taylor and has gotten a mandatory out of the way so he can take this fight. Joe called. Kelly answered. Ball is in Joe's court. Time for him to put up or shut up. Besides, Joe has made it clear he is going to retire. No time for Andrade.
The fight would be at SMW. Calzaghe is the undisputed SMW champion. Pavlik is the challenger. Guess who calls the shots?
That I have no idea what you are blabbering about. Or perhaps you could enlighten me as to what "Joe called, Kelly answered" even means?
I think Kessler also, I always said that Pavlik should take a tune up before Calzaghe. But Kessler could be to muh of a risk
Far too much of a risk. By the way, could someone please point me in the direction of the vast array of interviews in which Calzaghe "called Pavlik out?" Because to my knowledge, he has only mentioned him as a potential opponent, just as he has done with Jones. And when questioned about possible opponents after the fight last night, Pavlik did likewise. He also mentioned Abraham.
Ummm... It's all there if you read from the begining. Joe called out Kelly the DAY AFTER Kelly one his MW title. MR. SMW calling out Mr. MW. Joe called, Kelly answered. Kelly had to do a contractual rematch with Taylor and a mandatory. Deck is clear to accept Joe's challange.
Just google joe and the date after Kelly won his title. Not a big trash talk kind of call, but it was a call. To the best of my memory, it was something subtle like, (big paraphrasing here) Well, if you want to test yourself, I'm here at SMW. No trash involved but the reference was clear.
I am afraid I'll have to ask you for a link. I don't recall Calzaghe ever "challenging" Pavlik. As I stated above, Pavlik has been mentioned as a potential opponent, but so have numerous other fighters.
Like I said. Let's not start this crap like in Kessler/Miranda. After Palle welched on signing the contracts Kessler's supporters started using the excuse that Miranda hadn't proven himself at 168 yet and needed to fight others before Kessler. That wasn't a problem when Palle made his verbal agreement in that fight. When Cal called out Pavlik, all that was off the table. Had it been the other way around, it would be valid. And what part of RETIRE do you guys not get with Calzaghe? Is this a ploy to get Joe saftly off to retirement without fighting Pavlik because it would be too late?
